what are "dead coils" on springs?
i dont kno if anyone remembers (prolly not) but i have a problem with my front springs still squeaking after a year....anyways read that if u take rubber (or plastic) spiral wrap, and wrap it around every other dead coil then the squeaking should stop......well i gonna try this sometime this week but first i need to know what a dead coil is........then ill try it....
and if this doenst work i guess ill have to do what i didnt want to do in the first place, which is why ive been holding out for so long,..............reinstall the springs........
TIA

I'm guessing here, but I think the dead springs are those coils that are at the ends of the spring that don't actually go through much translation. If you imagine a spring flexing, the center moves the most and the ends are pretty much fixed.
They are the coils that when the car is set down, touch each other.
In a progressive rate spring, these are usually the top few coils.
I believe that after a few weeks, if you look at your springs, paint will
be missing between these dead coils. (Just barely)
I think your remedy may work.
