Default Why do I need to do a valve adjustment if...

Well I got the timing belt on today...started the car... and heard a LOT of ticking. If everything is at TDC, and stays at TDC....does this mean I need to do a valve adjustment?

This is the first time doing a valve adjustment myself, although I have watched others do it. I adjusted the intake's to .006, and the exhaust to .007. I did them in the correct order, 1342, and did it till I felt a slight drag on the feeler gauge. I made sure the screw did not loosen while I tightened the nut.

Why does my motor tick so loudly? Is it the stupid LMA's? Argh... I just wanna drive my car for once in 4 months .

Any suggestions? I only come back maybe once or twice a month.

You can safely tighten your valves to .001 closer than spec for extra quietness.

My friend recently got a valve adjustment on his GSR at the Acura dealership and it was really ticky afterwards. Thats just how they sound I guess.

Yes I am getting spark to all 4 cylinders

Before I did all the work, my motor was nice and quiet though... This ticking is REALLLY loud, almost sounds like the valves hitting the pistons... but its not since everythign is at TDC.

Tomorrow I will go and maybe tighten them a little more if my damn back stops hurting from being bent over for the whole day...

Is it the stupid LMA's?
