96jdm itr tranny geared the same as the 98+ jdm itr?
i know the final drive is only 4.4 on the 96 but im not sure if the gearing is the same between the two transmissions.... is the final drive the only difference between the 96 and the 98+? thanks
No...
3-4-5 is different in the 98JDM tranny...
ACK...EDIT..been thinking about Xgears for too long....
4-5 plus final is the only difference....

No, it's more closely related to the USDM ITR tranny.
98 Spec R trannies have a GSR 4th and 5th gear..but with the 4.785 fd, the RPMs are still quite high.

so i know the 98+jdm and the usdm itr transmissions have the same 1-3 gear, but then the jdm has the gsr 4th and 5th to keep the revs down with the 4.7fd... does the 96 jdm have all the same gears as the usdm since they are both 4.4fd? if not what is different about the gear ratios?
i was originally planning on a new usdm itr transmission from acura when i go to swap, but i found a 96 jdm itr tranny for much cheaper and i am wondering if there is enough of a difference to justify spending the extra $, besides the durability of a brand new unit
