Default Starter clicks but wont turn the pos over..any ideas? [90 si hatch]

we did a mini me on some dudes car. thats tip top, but when we got the car it wasnt starting so we figured the battery was dead so we charged it over night. thing had one of those old school alarms with 1zillion wires. took that bitch out then found out the main relay was busted so fixed that. now it clicks but doesnt wanna turn over and this is after i replaced the starter with a known good one. any ideas on why it may be doing this? ...Im starting to not like the ef's please help

I thought the clicking meant the starter was dead?

either dead OR not getting enough power.... always better to check the cheap fixes first.

this is the exact problem i had when converting my car to mpfi. what i did to fix this was to run a ground wire directly from the battery to one of the starter bolts. started fine and havent had the problem since.
