my friend and i were wondering about his a/c system. when he got the car he took off the compressor and hade it off for a while and now he wants to have a/c again besides recharging the system and getting a new compressor what else does he have to replace to get the system to work correctly. also the lines have been open

 

a new drier would be a good idea. otherwise it will smell like mildew/fish every time you turn the ac on.

 

how much would that cost and where can he get it and besides that and the compressor is that all he's going to need to get it to work and recharging the system

 

I would have the A/C system flushed (cleaned)... who knows how much crap has gotten into the lines that could tear up your nice new compressor...

 

so what do u advise him to do to get the a/c working again. the system dosnt have a compressor on it and the lines were left open and about how much do u think its going to cost him

 

I'm not sure where you get the "flush" done, but a buddy of mine had to have it done when his compressor blew up. (threw metal into the system) He knew someone at the local Nissan Tech Training Center and had it cleaned out there. I would assume most A/C shops could flush / clean out the system. As far as putting the compressor on and filling the system that is something that he could do himself... but flush / clean (not sure how the industry refers to it) is something that requires special equipment.
