what is the condition of the engine?

1. do a compression check
2. check for any leaks like around the shaft seal, oil pan drain plug, etc
3. Check your plugs

it'll be hard to check for leaks around the crankshaft seal. just look for oil deposits around the lower portion of your timing belt cover.....directly behind the crank pulley. if you dont see any oil leaks, then your piston rings are gone.

i just noticed....if your mechanic says that your engine is burning oil, then wouldnt he be smart enough to do a visual around the engine to check for external oil leakage?

If you are really burning that much oil, and it's not leaking, then your rings are shot. you will either have to rebuild the motor or buy a new one, sorry

go to the parts store and buy a can of engine degreaser. follow the directions on the can and clean everything up as best you can, especially on the underside of the motor. drive it for a day and then check it out, it shold be pretty easy to find any oil leaks then.

I bet you need new seals.

Put a piece of cardboard under the car, and seeing that you lose that much oil, check the next day to see where the drips land. It would probably be front seals, dealers tend to replace those every time they do a timing belt change, so yeah.

have a buddy drive behind you and see what kinda of smoke is coming out, it should be blueish smoke.
here the red neck way to check for oil leak, drive the car hard, park in a clean spot, stick a piece of card board in there, this way you can check for external leak.
but i am with jweller on this one, sound like your piston ring is gone.
let's hope that I am wrong, because that sh_t will cost an arm

I'm gonna say bye-bye to your piston rings.

What mileage you got on that motor?

1 mile is 1.61 km so 100,000km is about 62,000 miles
