Default Ignition Timing Q

When starting the new 12.5:1 motor I built I backed off the distrubutor to retard the timing fully. The motor so far has had about 10 minutes of running time but I just wanted to be safe for the initial startup, and now since I know everything is okay I would like to properly setup my timing for the break-in. I am sure that it is probably retarded so much that it could cause my idle to be slightly rough and a little sluggish, but I just wanted to confirm that backing off the dist all the way could cause a noticable effect at idle.
