Default Does a lighter valvetrain=more hp?

Am I going to gain hp from having a lighter springs, retainers, and valves, or is it just going to be easier on the motor at high rpms? Gimme all you guys got on this... I searched and didn't find anything too specific.

Hmmmm what makes you think this??? A lighter valvetrain can allow you to rev higher which creates more power as HP=torgue*rpm/5252 however your cams powerband better go as high as you are reving or it is pointless. Putting a lighter valvetrain alone with do jack.

you beat me to it, but to add some info, the lighter the valvetrain the more an engine can rev and the faster it revs.
But i don't think it'll increase HP or TQ, just MHO. In case it increases HP or TQ it'll be very low amount of power. i'm not sure on that.

like the others say, lightened v.train will not make power...but.... a lightened v.train is like training wheels for other components in your head, mainly the camshafts...allowing you to safely rev higher, as your making power beyone a stock redline, which your cams are in direct control of, and if your ecu has been reprogrammed with a higher redline.

In other words, its almost like having a lightened flywheel for your valvetrain, but the weight savings isn't as noticeable as a lightened f.wheel is. Valvetrain components are not too heavy to begin with. Its just a safer alternative for your internal head components if you do a lot of high reving.
