Hi, I know some of you are using Ground Controls with yellow Konis. Anyone here with ITR using the Skunk2 coilovers with Konis?
Does it fit well?
How is the quality compared to the Ground Controls? I believe the price is about the same.... Thanx.

GCs have a special insert so they can use the Koni's without the spring base. With the skunks you may have to keep the spring cup on there, doesnt allow for as versatile adjustments.

You're saying the Skunk2 has a larger diameter sleeve? Someone told me there are rings included to fit different type of shocks so you can remove the spring cup of the Konis, but leaving the snap ring (perch) on.

I just installed Skunk2s on my ITR with stock shocks. It handles a little bit better due to the lower CG, the car doesn't roll as much. It just squats in the corners.
They ride pretty comfortable, although they're not as stiff as people claim they are. They're almost like my factory system. On the freeway the car bounces due to the shocks not being matched.
I thought about getting Konis to match the system, but have decided to go with a full race setup by Zeal.

Which springrate did you get? 10 kg/mm (559 lbs/inch) and 8 kg/mm (447 lbs/inch)?
I already have the Konis, and I want to keep them....

I was under the impression that both Skunk2 and GC used Eibach ERS springs.

Bounciness does not come from the quality of the springs. It's your struts/shocks that really controls the bounciness of your vehicle. If you have shitty shocks and you put on stiffer springs, it's going to bounce because you have....shitty shocks.
Springs help control the motion of bound and rebound of the shock. But if you have shitty shocks, no matter how high quality the springs...the fact still remains... YOU HAVE SHITTY SHOCKS.

I am also using the skunk2 coilovers with ITR shocks and its great, awesome handling and better traction in general. And not as bouncy as i thought it would be. The ITR shocks seem to match up well with the skunk2's.

I have Skunk2 on my ITR with stock shocks and it rides like ****. The car bounces all over the road. I would keep the coils, but change the struts. Koni, something, anything else but stock.

Anyone who complains about SKUNK2 coil-overs can usually be weeded out with two statements.
A.) They are using factory struts.
B.) There car is WAAAAY to low for any strut to handle.
What people do not realize is skunk2 uses a lot stiffer rates then off the shelf GC's. Example.
Civic: Skunk2 (roughly) 440lb/in front and 330lb/in rear.
Ground Control 200lb/in front and 180lb/in rear.
As you can see Skunk2 doubles the rates of the GC's. This is one of the reason GC is so quick to offer differnt rates for differn't applications. There off the shelfs ones are made for commfort and adjustability only. However GC's have MUCH more flexibility for spring rates where I think you can only get like 5 with Skunk2, GC's perch system is alot easier. All those double clamp systems seem to lock up after a while and one giant PITA. Anyways I would probably just get the GC's with there adapters. Call them and tell them your set-up and what you want to do and you will be set.

I don't know about the ITR but the quality of the Skunk2's on my DC5 Type S are real bad. I have Eibach racing springs on the way from true choice to solve my problems with the Skunk2 springs that came with their adjustable spring kit.
Read this thread i started over at clubrsx. It'll explain everything and why you shouldn't go with Skunk2 adjustable springs. Ground Control is the way to go!

Good luck with your purchase...late
Edit: I'm running on Koni Sport struts if it makes a difference.

hey buddy, i have ITR shocks, and they certainly dont SUCK. and they car is not dropped too low. Skunk springs just SUCK. GC rules bc they use Eibach springs.
SKUNK SPRINGS SUCK

haha did you follow the link over to my thread at clubrsx? That's the title i used for the thread. Skunk2 linear race springs fatigue an extreme amount over time. This is due to a quality issue with their springs...late

Well now I do not recall saying ITR struts "suck". However were they made for 550lb/in front and 440lb/in rear spring rates? No. Do you think Bilstein, Koni, KYB or Tokico struts suck? I do not, but what about if I take your precious Eibach ERS race springs and run 600/900 springs on them. They probably aren't gonna last to long or dampen these kind of spring rate with off the shelf valving. This is the first case I have personally heard with the springs Skunk2 uses. Not saying to overlook it as I'm sure Eibach is a much better spring to use as why GC has built such a reputation in the motorsports world. Anyways good luck.
From looking at my friend's Skunk2 adjustable spring kits i can tell you this for sure:
Integra kits come with 8kg/mm (448lb/in) spring rated springs for the front and 6kg/mm (336lb/in) spring rated springs for the rear. This is also true for their RSX kit's and Civic kit's. The only difference between the 3 kits are the length of the spring.

Well I have two friends with Integras and both of there skunk2 kits are 10kg/mm front and 8kg/mm rear, however one of them swapped spring rates, but that doesn't matter. Spring rates still remain the same.
