has anyone tried to drive an h22 engine without the vtec wires hooked up? any problems?

 

at 6500 RPM you'll hit the revlimiter, and you may get a CEL, but no problems.

 

what is a cel? thanks for letting me know! my swap is almost done, but the vtec is going to take some homework to learn how to hook up.

 

cel = Check Engine Light. for your vtec it is only three wires, 2 to the ecu and one to a ground.

 

yeah, ive heard it all. i even have the helms manual. unfortunately, im a person who needs to see how its done, then i will never forget. i know where the wiring harness is for the solenoid and pressure switch, but im not sure how to just run 2 wires to the ecu, and where in the ecu they need to go. i am prob going to take it to a honda dealership or something for that little part. i just wanted to make sure i would still be able to drive it.

 

What kind of car and what ecu do you have?

i have a 94 honda prelude. it has an h22a jdm engine with an accord tranny. the ecu is the one that goes to the jdm h22a. if i could get good directions, i would love to do it myself, thats why i decided to get this car as a project car. i want to take pictures of everything while im doing it so i can post it on the web for everyone else. it has been a pain in the *** to get this done, yet everyone says its so easy! hehe, oh well.
