Default Rebuilding d16

Hi, since I didnt really want to have the hassle of switching in my stock engine for the 2 year smog checks. I wanted to know if rebuilding the d16 (crx SI) engine was worth it. Im not really doing it for pulling the fastest on the track but using it as a learning experience. I wanted to start on it, but what parts will I need. Can you guys suggest any places to get the parts? (I know Pick a part and junkyards are obvious) Any website that you guys can recommend me to? Thanks alot!

Jon

that is a good point- it just adds more to the total cost due to machine work

i would also suggest getting a new cam & valve train- but that will add another $6-700 for something decent

i just had a quick question since the d15b2 is essentially the same motor as the d16a6 could you use all the parts listed above in a d15 and gain the same compression numbers and such (that is of course with a mpfi swap).

thanks dont mean to steal your thread bro. single cam power ownz

the old d15's had a different bottom end, but you can still use the d16 pistons. you could have the factory rod's shot peened too, that would add strength, the just get a bunch of ARP stuff to hold it all together

what exactly is different about the block? isn't the head the same casting as a d16a6 w/ different valve springs & a diff cam? if it is teh same casting wouldn't the block be too, just w/ diff internals?
