Default Austin, TX ITR owners or anyone else, few questions.

I am 90% sure I am moving to Austin, TX for the summer to live with some bmx kids and attend ACC. I don't want to give out my address in this post, but was wondering about theft. The house is located in a "family-like" suburb.

Also, are there any road tracks near Austin that have open sessions? Need to know if I should bring different tires with me.

Thanks, sk-

i don't think tht theft is that bad here- but of course it depends on what area. anything east of IH35 might be a little sketchy, in south austin you'll have less to worry about, but central & north austin imo are the safest area's.

No problems southwest Austin working central... Then again, I park in a Gov't parking garage at work.

Well, I don't think you'll get the car stolen but you might get something stolen. I got my cd player stolen and my car cover.

Austin Great city, nice gurls and tons to do. I dont think you will have any problems with your R, I have yet to hear of anyone having issues with vandalism and theft. I'm in San Antonio and I have parked my car in places that most R owner would cringe over and no problems yet *knocks wood*. Let us know when you get down here.

if anything was stolen i'd bet a cd player would go way before the whole car. austin overall is a very safe place.

I live in Austin and its pretty damn safe here. Especially if you are in a good neighbhood. Never had anyone put a fingerprint on my car. *knocks on wood*

No real road tracks. You can drive to SA for the Ennis track. There are a lot of auto-xer's here too. Every month they have one. Its pretty fun.

If you have any questoins or want to meet up when you get to Austin let me know. Hit me up on PM.

There's a track in Houston (forgot the name). Houston is a two hour drive from Austin. DFW is three hours away.

Austin is a great place. Lots of things to do and most of the people are very cool.

austin is overall pretty cool- a good music scene, lakes, there are some car meets. austin is in between houston & dallas so it's a good spot. you'll probably have fun down here- people are pretty cool for the most part.

Jeff's Auto Body on N. Lamar - hands down the best.

Yes, I'm just leaving for the better part of the summer. Probably leave IL in mid-late May. Then return in August.

Thanks for the responses. When I get here, I'll post up and see if anyone wants to meet up. I'd like to do an autox or something while my there.

Yeah, you'll enjoy Austin. Mostly I just worry about soccer moms and SUV's running me over or denting my car. Most of the theft around here is for smaller stuff like radios and what not (knock on wood). Like Ryan said, there are auto-x's and some meets, I'm sure you'll find something to do. Let us know when you get here, maybe we can all get together and go eat or go out or something
