Miles on your R per day
Just curious as to how many miles you guys put on your R per day (for those without a beater)
I, unfortunately, put on over 100 miles a day between work and my daily trip to the gym
It kinda bugs the living crap out of me racking up almost 10k miles in over two months.

i try not to drive it too much. i don't know why... but yes.. i usually get like 300 or something every two weeks. but my first year of having it, i put on like 16k miles on it...
Good point George... I always tell myself that, but sometimes get bummed out due to the whole mileage thing. Good to hear it from fellow R owners though, it helps.

47,400 miles / 870 days of ownership = 54.5 miles per day.
I towed the ITR to the past two ITR expos AND I have a beater.

I don't worry so much about the miles on the engine, it's the rock chips, door dings, and the wear on the interior that gets me. It's almost imposible to have a 75K mile car still look like 10K on the outside and inside.

Word of advice: Get a beater. ($2-3,000 beaters are quite reliable)
Sure, R is meant to be driven, but in my case, it used to be driven in gridlock traffic. Screw that! Now, I drive mine when I know I can drive it at WOT (i.e. autoX/track). Also, a lot easier to have the R in ready-to-track condition, when I don't have to switch parts back & forth between street & autoX/track.
Summary: R = in the garage. Beater = daily driver.

cosworth, didn't your R become a beater at the expo?
owned my R for about 775 days and 41,500 miles = 53.5 miles/day. there still isn't another car i'd rather own!

Yeah, it did. It's a autoX/track beater now.
Can't drive it in the rain, 'cuz I dont have the panels painted yet.

Yes, but my case was when I bought my car, the condition somewhat like that(with dings and stuffs) and it was around 40Ks...and since then I hardly drove it.

When I got #1214 a year ago in March 2001 from BlackDragon, she only had 9500 miles on her. AND it was a 2000 model (he only drove it on 100% perfect days
)
Now, it's got 30,100. That's too many miles for a year IMHO
Sure, it's meant to be driven, but dayum... though it's getting less miles on it now that I am not taking it to the track/autox every month because of the hatchy race kaa. Plus, now I have a trailer.

I bought my 2001 in September with 28,XXX miles on it and now I have 41,XXX. *****!!! That averages out to 63 mpd!!! Hmmm...drive to work is only 20 miles round trip. Where the **** is all that mileage coming from? I drive it to work every day (no beater), and some trips to Raleigh and back. If I had to drive a beater to work, I'd wish I was back in the ARRRR...
No track time yet, at least not until I get a beater as a backup! I'd like to keep the R until she dies, and then strip her & use her as a trailer-ed track *****.

300 miles/week. 50,000 in 3 years.
I say drive the snot out of it. I wouldn't be supprised if just as much damage is done by not driving it everyday to get the rings moving, etc.
