Honda Accord EX - Engine No. Horror (Help!?!?!)
This is so horrible, I do not know what to do. In short, I got screwed. The sudden onslaught of car troubles ended up costing approx. $5,000 on my 1990 Honda EX. Short on funds, the bills were in increments of $1,000+/- and each time, I felt it would be the end of problems and ultimately be less expensive than buying another car.
But it is now barely running and the transmission case is cracked! I have no doubt that the engine was switched because it was a shiny black color last year and now, it is gray. I have the engine number but I'm told there is no way to match it up to the VIN. My God, please tell me that there IS a way to verify this engine to the car - I am now unemployed and blah, blah, blah. (I will handle the mechanic - for now, only the engine #.)
Thanks!

Shucks. The print out from DMV had everything but the engine number. I spoke with CHP - said they only check these things for cars that are towed in via request from "law enforcement" or for lien sales. I'll try again, but I guess I was hoping for a miracle. Thanks.
(But please let me know if you think of anything else I may be able to do.)
