... h23vtec... how-to's?... suggestions?... (did search)...
(( did search, but hard to do now that you cant search 3-letter words ))
... anyways, i was wondering if anyone had any good how-to's on the topic?... what about opinions/comments/suggestions?... lemme know... thanks...
... also, what would you do, h23vtec or semi-built h22a?... i have heard that h23vtec's are not as reliable... anyways, this will be for a daily driver, so reliability is a must... thanks...

H23/VTEC is basically the same as any LS/VTEC or B20/VTEC swap. You have to run an oil line and tap into the H22 head then run an oil line to the H23 block at the oil sensor (on the back of the block).
They are pretty reliable, if built and tapped right. But will never be as reliable as any regular VTEC swap. I would personally use an H23 crank inside the H22.
Good luck.

... thanks for the info on the 99+ acccord wagons... also, with your h23vtec, how is oil routed to the head without an outside line?... got any more info... thanks...

... any difference between an h23vtec and a h22a w/ h23 crank?... other than oil lines would already be taken care of... also, the second options seems a little more reliable, agreed?... thanks...

Only in Japan, and that engine puts out VERY similar numbers to the JDM H22 (I think the HP number is actually a little lower than the JDM H22a, and maybe just a tad more torque).

The reason why you dont have to run an external line is that the h23 and the h22 are the same block.Same cast and everything. This means in turn that the h23 has a oil orifice between cylinder 2 and 3 towards the back of the block. This lines up with another hole on he h22 head. You just have to remove the nipple out of the block so that oil will flow thru.

Re: ... h23vtec... how-to's?... suggestions?... (jDmDxTuRd)
is the h22 the same bore as the h23?? theres no such thing as a semi built h22, if u are building an h22, u have to go all out 'cos of the frm lining, u cant run forged internals on stock sleeves, so u have to resleeve before doing any internals on h-series motors

... does this apply to jdm type-s pistons?... i have heard that it doesnt, but since i have no experience with this, i am not sure... i am planning two builds... low budget (type-s pistons, milled head)... and higher budget (forged internals)... anyways, lemme know if resleeving is required for type-s pistons... thanks...

with type s pistons you dont need to resleeve, i took the "low-budget" way and got the type s pistons but now im thinking i should have gone with the higher budget build up and just get the sleeves anyways, it keeps your options open for other set-ups, like i want to go turbo now but didnt get my block sleeved so i will have to delay my plans for a while. if i had gotten the block sleeved, it would be a lot easier to just swap in pistons, less downtime too since i had the motor out of the car already, if you are planning on sleeving for forged pistons later on, you might as well do it now so you wont have to get a spare block or have extra downtime when you do decide to do it.
