can't pass smog, thinking of trading my 90 civic b16
man, just went to dmv today and waited 3 hours to get an extension (2 months) to get my car smogged...gotta talk to a ref i guess and go obd1. i like the motor and i definitely love my car, but smog is just a pain in the ***. makes me wanna trade for what i originally wanted, an ef ex 5spd...or any other a6 powered ef for that matter...or maybe i could just move out of state
if the engine isn't obd0 then you don't need to convert to obd1..smog rules all wiring/ecu/sensors must correspond to the motor....you may just be screwed being that its JDM...i don't know..just keep on trying because once you get that sticker than there are no worries from there on out...
there is a good article at http://www.norcalcrx.org on passing smog with a ZC which in my opinion would be a harder engine to pass being that most of them aren't in the best condition.

Chill out first!! It sounds like you have never talked to a Referee yet and just had a hope that it could be avoided. (it can't)
Find out where the local Referee is located and go in and casually talk to him as to what it will require to make the swap legal. You have to have an appointment to have a check done, but I've always been able to go in and talk to the guy that is near me.

eraser-its not that easy to just walk into a test only and pay em off, lots of guys are scared to accept payment, especially from someone they don't know
