OT but, Just got my NASA issue of GRM and, How I was rewarded for lack of patience.
Posted in the RR/A forum as well but, thought more of you could also appreciate it. It's really only OT if you aren't a NASA member or a GRM reader.
First, I'll thank GRM and NASA, what a great idea to provide GRM as a part of NASA membership. Yep, I read the post about this promotional idea, loved it and wondered if and when my copy would arrive.
So, I'm an impatient guy, and I haven't bought a periodical copy or renewed any of my subscriptions in ahwile, since about a year ago when my wife was about to kill me when last she recounted just how many different magazines I actually had subscriptions to as well as the ones that I'd pick up on the fly... Suffice to say,,, my collection was getting a bit too big back then and storage was becoming an issue.
Well, there are few magazines that I really want or care to read and GRM is one of them. So being that impatient guy that I am and not getting a new rag in awhile as I said, I picked up the May copy of GRM at the local Stop-N-Shop while waiting on line the other day... I was happy to again leaf through the pages and read interesting, intelligent articles about all sorts of racing, people, modding and cars NOT JUST IMPORTS, and about our hobby, autocross, road racing, hpde's, rally, and the the whole Grass Root's racing community... It just felt good...
That was 3 days ago.
This evening is warm and beautiful after I spent an odd day off in shorts and a T running errands in my R, I just enjoyed life. Well, my wife and I come home after dinner out with the parents and we check the mailbox for the normal garbage, junk and bills. As I head for the door, the wife pipes up and says "Hey, you got a new copy of Grass Root's,,,?"
And yes there was a smile on her face as she said that... She knows how much I like reading some of my magazines and that it has been a while since I had a few too many laying around. "Is this the same copy as the one you just bought?" she asked.
Nope, it's the June 2003 issue!

Nahh, my life would be more than twice as boring without Jeanette.
I'd drink entirely too much and develop incurable blisters on Mr. Right, crash into the gutter and most likely end up sleeping in my car.
Truth be known, my Wife totally bypassed the Playboy Magazine and actually added the Playboy channel to your cable lineup all by herself.
And you wonder why I married her?
Also remember that we eloped and got marreid in Vegas by Elvis.
