11 ITR's @ GingerMan
I met a bunch of you today and it was really cool getting to run on a track with other type R's. It is amazing how our cars are so damn reliable that all we had to do all day while we were not driving was worry about how fast we were chewing up brake pads. With other kinds of cars, everyone is always dealing with various mechanical catastrophes that crop up. It was also cool to have a well-run lapping day with no incidents on a great track. Everyone was courteous about letting others pass and nobody tried to turn it into a race. We even resisted getting into a fight with the inhabitants of the Saturn shantytown, despite chrome 12" hubcaps (type R model?) and the license plate NOT 4EN. Thanks to Ken and CGI for putting on a great event. Lots of people took digital pics, and they should be online soon. If anyone is like me and remember cars better than names and faces, I am the guy with the black ITR with the beat up Prelude wheels.
It was nice to meet you Mike, and everyone else too. (nevermind if they abandoned us for dinner
My brakes were ridiculously soggy on my ride "home".
I just have one thing to say. My ears hurt. Really. 13 miles to the track, 5 hours on the track in Type R's, (driving/riding), and 4 hours back to a resting point from there... That's a lot of LOUD engine/road noise to endure in a 48 hour period.
Thanks Ken for organizing this event...

The event was at GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, MI. Jim, you must be fatigued because I really don't think Boston is 13 miles from GingerMan!
One way to make the noise more tolerable is to wear your helmet. You will get some looks, though.

I had an awesome time. I only lasted until 3 p.m. though and then left. My brakes are quote soft now. But it was good to get out there because I am definately improving (was only my 2nd track event).
It was fun driving with everyone; hopefully we can all do it again

Although I only had 30 min of sleep in 33 hours I managed to have a great time at the event. I was impressed by Wai's driving skills (that kept me awake). He took me out for a few laps around the track. The Volk TE-37's, race tires, and Spoon Brakes were a great combination. I'm suprised how close Wai was able to hang with the supercharged, 500 hp, Cobra Mustang. Obviously the mustang pulled away a bit in the straigts but the twisties gave his car a fighting chance in the corners.
I'll post some of the pics I took later this afternoon.
onyx00 - Thanks again for the ride to Gingerman.

I hate to be a spoilsport but I THINK we only had 10:
4 yellow
3 white
3 black
More info about the track on its website here.
I'm sure we will have a huge turnout for next year's ITR Expo at GingerMan!

Hey Josh, I hope next time you could bring your car on the track also. I'm sure you won't regret it!
Thanks for your compliment. That Vortech Cobra was really fast at the beginning of the day. I couldn't really keep up with him because of the extra person that I was carrying (not mean that you're fat
) Later on in the afternoon maybe something wrong with that Cobra so he was going pretty slow. I passed him without much hassle.
It's too bad that you couldn't get rides in those NSXs. Those instructors are really really fast.

I sent some pics to JMB, and I assume he will post them relatively soon. Yes, I even have group shots for those of us that decided to stick around! And Jim/Mike/Al, we ended up just going to Arby's after all! We didnt decide till after we gassed up though. We would have contacted you but nobody knew eachother's cell #'s. So, next time.....
Man, I am SO tired right now. My elbow blistered up from bracing myself so much against the door during the sessions. Driving fast is fun

What kind of lap times were you guys turning? I was there about a month ago and have some times from my lap timer to compare. Just curious...
Thanks,

Thanks,

When I was there in April, I was running 1'42" and broke into 1'41" a few times. I went a bit slower this time because I backed off in turn 11 trying to be safe.
I know EFFECT is also running 1'42" with his blown GSR.
