difference in DX hatchback steering rack and CRX SI steering rack?
This is only heresay, but what I've been told is that the Si and DX racks were the same, but the HF was different, but I can't find an HF owner to confirm this for me. However, on some further research on http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/ they list ref # 86833 for the Si and 86832 for the HF and DX, but that may only mean that they've let that number be the new replacement for both models like they did for Si and DX valve springs from those years.
I am pretty sure the hf and the dx are the same, and the si has a different ratio. Some si owners have been known to try and get the hf racks for their better ratio.
As far as the teg rack goes I don't think so, but try it and let us know.
I just picked up all the parts to rebuild my rack from
today.

i've heard the same, the DX and Si racks are the same, but the HF is faster.
what i'd like to know is, is the Si (manual) rack faster than a DX (power steering) rack ?

I have a new '88 to '91 CRX Honda dealer parts manual, and there is not a superceeded P/N for the Si rack. Can't remember the whole # off the top of my head but the last three digits are:
671 for Si rack
003 or A03 or something like that for DX/Hf
I couldn't get a satisfactory answer from anyone at honda as to why,so I just used # 671 to be safe.
And there is no power steering rack available USDM, for a CRX

I have two of each DX and Si
I haven't swapped them out but ,from underneath they look exactly the same. I figure the diffs. are internal

probably cause the hf was lighter, so they wanted to make it easier to be able to turn the Si since it was heavier. but if its easier, it would take longer to do.
thats my theory

and btw, if you really want power steering and are willing to work, you can swap the system over out of a 4 door.
I just put a 88 HF rack in my 89 si and wow, what a good mod. I auto-x occasionally ans man, its faster lock to lock. The Si is 4.5 turns lock to lock and the hf is about 3 and 2/3 L-L. It was $50 at the yard. I got it originally to fix this "clunk" in my front end but it of course, didn't help. I did throw on new tie rod ends and boots for good measure however.

1st gen CRX DX and SI rack the same
HF has SLIGHTLY quicker ratio
2nd gen CRX HF and DX the same
SI has quicker variable ratio(qucker ratio the further you turn)
prefered HF for 1gen SI for 2nd gen
most peple probably could tell the difference though
