b20 in crx???
I was thinking of selling my car and buyin a 88-91crx hf because of the wieght, and putting a b20 w/out the vtec head in it, with a turbo. i was wondering how much work has to go into doing this, I was figuring i could get a b16 cable tranny, ls ecu, and im not sure what to I could use for axles shift linkage, mounts, etc. is there any custom work that needs to be done like cutting chassis or anytihn like that, also would the wiring be pretty extensive because doesnt the HF only have 2 injectors?...I will be doing this myself ive done swaps before,b18c in my 94 civic, and an h22 in a 93 civic

there used to be a site called crvtec.com. It and all of its info is still around under a certain name. I think that might be a place you would want to start...Ask around or search yahoo for crvtec, or other similar stuff... Good Luck
My buddy had a b20 in a crx si but he totalled it, all he had to do was pound the frame rails out about an inch with a sledge hammer(looked like ***) but it worked, now the motor is in a 4th gen hatch si with a turbo on it and it fits well. he just had to get a slim fan.
first off hf has 4 injectors and as far as wiring goes its the best (along with the si) to throw a swap into, just gotta extend a plug or two, switch the coolant temp sensor to one thatll fit on the b20 block, change a few plugs into obd2 and you're pretty much in there..
dude was right about banging out a bit of the frame to make room for the alternator etc... no cutting though just a sledgehammer's fine unless you wanna make it look pretty. if you use a b16 cable tranny integra axles work.. mounts you just get the hasport mountkit for like $350 or so and it plops right in shift linkage you can either get the hasport kit or fashion your own.. bottom line if i wanted an ef civic/crx it'd be an hf everytime, inexpensive, light, easy to wire etc..
good luck

Yes, the HF has 4 fuel injectors like the SI. The DX model is the only CRX that has the 2 injectors. The motor basically drops right in with the assistance of an aftermarket mount kit. You will need to shortent a 90-93 Integra shift linkage, and you need the driver's side mount bracket and rear tranny mount bracket. You can use the 90-93 Integra LS throttle cable and any B-series cable tranny. For wiring, the harness plugs in and you can use a PR4 ecu (OBD0), 90-91 LS distributor, and any OBD0 crx/civic/integra fuel injectors. Use 90-93 Integra axles don't forget to remove the dust shields.
With the HF model, you will need to change out your HF knuckles and hubs for DX/SI ones.

I would try to steer away from the idea of putting a vtec head, and especially turbo on a B20 block. I originally intended to do a similar setup, B20 block with PR3 head and turbo that motor. After reality set in and I realized this is WAY beyond my financial abilities, and my hopes for a reliable daily driver. If you plan on putting a vtec head on the block, or even just a turbo, then you MUST at least purchase forged internals for the block. And I would HIGHLY recommending sleeving the block, as the B20's are notorious for weak cylinder walls that crack.
May I make a suggestion, if you plan on turboing a motor, go for the B18a/b motors. They are very common, can be picked up cheap, and have bulletproof bottom ends with a little drop in torque from the B20. And with the money you save from buying the B20 you can purchase forged internals for the motor or do what you choose. Just something to think about.

Well, I am working out some fuel issues with the motor right now, so I haven't gotten to fully enjoy it yet. The motor is stock except for a skunk2 intake manifold, and ITR fuel rail. I also have intake and exhaust. I just upgraded to a Zdyne Gold SECU (waiting for it to return) and have a T3/T4 turbo, huge intercooler, B-series manifold and downpipe, all waiting to go on. It should be a nice little setup.
