stock intake lid on, or off?
I read on some post in here about someone running with the lid off their stock intake. It made me think, is there really any benefit or consequence to this. Does anyone know?
lol..just buy the CAI for it..its the easiest thing to install, if your worried about hydrolocking just stick the stock one back on..takes a few minutes no biggie..if you want to "stay closely as stock" as possible, then just invest for the Spoon intake duct...

actually the heat is generated more when you are at a stop. if you are on a long drive well.. it doesn't make much difference. anything over 35mph provides sufficient fan cooling for the engine and is going to blow right over the stock intake box.
the stock intake box is tuned. if you remove the cover, it will sound throaty, but no matter what your butt dyno tells you, no matter what your dyno plot tells you - you WILL lose power at a cost of 3-4hp.

how does the car perform/feel/sound like with the spoon intake duct? is it worth it and where is the best place to get one from? by looking at online pictures, the design makes a lot of sense, but i just wanted to know if it offers any performance in the real world.
btw, last night i took off the air lid cover and it definately does sound much nicer. but i immediately felt a loss of hp, it just didnt pull as hard as usual in VTEC. also the fact that the intake filter will start getting dirty made me put the lid back on as soon as i got home.
its all about the sound, nothing else...

Gains on the Spoon duct are really hard to measure as they really only benefit the car when its moving at a decent rate of speed. Kinda tough to dyno a car moving at 80 mph :D
Still I'm considering this, or perhaps the J's!

Who knows. Razor's butt might be very sensitive.

I don't think you'll really notice any gains anywhere though.. I think it's just for sound more than anything.
