DC Sports Short Shifter install questions! Help please!
Hey guys. Friday afternoon, a friend and I installed the DC Sports SS for my 01 Type R. The shift throws seem a little shorter, but nothing like in my friends 00 GSR. He also has the DC Sports SS. You barely move the shifter going to gears on his and on mine it feel basically stock. My questions are, is this normal? Should I tighten the shifter under the car alittle bit more or use the GSR peice that came with the shifter? It said on the directions to use such and such for the Type R and such and such for the GSR. We followed the directions and everything fine...this is just really bugging me. Thanks for your time guys.
Many people have complained about notchyness and such from dc sports shifter. Few people on the board have it, so I would recommend taking it off and going back to stock, and saving up for atleast neuspeed and if you are really interested in spending 300 bux for one get a C's.
i hate people that respond to post with stuff that don't solve the problem...
anyways....yeah you might want to take out the DC stuff and use the stock one...

The directions say to use the smaller washers on both sides, that is wrong.
If you looked at the stock design, it has a longer piece on the passenger side, just like all the other Teg models, and the earlier Civic models.
If you did not put in the longer washer on the passenger side, it wouldn't be working ideally.
Mine worked fine, and I felt a significant difference before and after the install. Make sure to check your bolts a few days later to make sure everything is holding together fine, and I had to remove my heat shield above the cat and the linkage to avoid some slight rubbing in a few gears, no bigee, just annoying.

mine was noticeably shorter throw and I have had no problems since...except that my shift **** gets hot while driving....
Regarding the notchiness, it may just need a few days to break in. Can't tell you for sure since I've never tried the DC. I know on the Neuspeed, it feels very notchy on the 4-5 upshift, even after a few months.

I am also installing a DC SS this weekend. how long did it take you? For my GSR the package only came with the shifter and another metal piece.

I had the DC SS installed on my '99 GSR and it was notchy alright. Eventually it went away but if I didnt drive for awhile it came back. I think I made it too tight also...Plus I heard that DC SS break???
Cannot confirm that part though but I was pretty satisfied with mine..

Took me about an hour, only because I was doing it on ramps, and it is a pain to try and maneuver under the car with limited space ....
