ZC dohc is in, but why no power?
THis motor should be pulling way harder than my old d16a6, but its not!
It sound kinda funny when I drive it. It was a proffesional install. But the only thing that was not done, was reset the ecu. Do you have to reset it after a swap? I am still using my old 90 si ecu, so should I reset it? and if so how do I do that?

there isnt a huge difference between the zc and the d16a6, but its there....you should feel some difference......i love zc, and i'm pretty wasted right now....good times had by all.
The ecu was reset, unless you did the entire engine swap with never disconnecting the battery. I felt very little difference between the ZC and the D16A6 too. ZC wasn't what I was looking for so I moved on to bigger and better things.

thats what happen to me when i got my ZC.. i didnt feel any difference..get use to it..you'll see how the ZC is..til now i still love my ZC..over my b16a..it was a fun engine. make sure you get the pg7 ecu as mentioned above. you'll love it when redline is at 7200 than 6700. ill admit, ZC isnt the fastest engine..but it was fun. it was cheap. good luck have fun.
If you chip the si ecu with everything stock you will notice a small increase in power due to the higher rev-limit but it's just like any other car if you chip the ecu don't expect huge gains unless there is work done to the motor in which fuel maps and so on can be altered for better performance
hate to say it, but this is why i completely bypassed the ZC idea and went b16, and i can tell you i definitely notice the difference there, it's unmistakeable. For the money though, at least you get more hp than stock. I am glad i waited though; it was well worth saving the money for.
yea- i just couldn't wait, my a6 is on it's last legs, and my gf is in school so she only makes enough for her car note & insurance, and we just bought an exhaust for her rsx so waiting too much longer, or spending more $$ was pretty much out of teh question since I pay rent + most of teh bills. I'm thinking that a JYT will solve the power issues.
I put a stock ZC chip in a PM6 ECU to run my DX->ZC conversion. Car pulls way harder than my buddy's Si. You definately notice a difference between stock PM6 and PM7 code in the ECU.

its all about the drivers when i had my zc in my crx in was kicking b16a's butts when they where in a crx. a custom chip underdrive pulley and an intake with the 92 -95 dx header on it with the zc tranny with lsd and ran 14.4 97.9 mph and when it was on the bottle ran 13.2 107mph boost the zc and have fun
found the problem. going to change ecu still, but I dont have any back pressure because I was running strait pipe with my d16a6, going to get the muffler and cat back on
There should be a big difference with a ZC DOHC, than an old, killed, d16.

i can say one thing going from my 1.5 dx motor in my rex to the zc was sure a big differance it ran a 15.43@88.58 not bad for the dx tranny.waiting for a run on a si tranny
yeah.....ive only put zc's in civic standards, and they totally rock in them. what an incredible difference.....i just gotta get my header done

I doubt it, not if the B16A had the same mods and was in good working order.

That's exactly what I thought the first time I read that but I just let it go. I figure let the D series guys think what they want, it always just starts a big fight, we all know which engine really has more potential.

I ran a best 15.53@87.11 and consistent 15.6's w/ dx tranny and bolt-ons. ZC's should be about .5 sec faster than d16a6 in the 1/4 mile. In my opinion, you SHOULD feel a difference unless your ZC isn't in good shape. Check the timing, compression and anything else that could hinder performance. Start by eliminating the easy things.

all the way man!
