They are covering up a story in car theft problems in USA

1 car gets stolen every 23 seconds
1 out of every 39 cars in CA are stolen


NJ/NY has special task forces patroling the street for nothing but stolen cars. Once spotted, 5 cars will show up at once and "box-in" the stolen car.
NY has drop 70% of theft rates (hmm..ok)
CA has drop 51% of theft rates

Thier new tactics are parking some high probable cars in neighborhood of high theft rates and use them as a bait. The car is an Accord with Altezza, loud exhaust and a heavy sounds system, lol Once the fish is hooked, they activeats the kill switch and the car stops and ain't going nowhere.

EDIT: Ok, sorry, this is a show introducing the nationwide anti-theft force, not just Northeast. They are now showing Miami, the new capital of car theft. They showed how a car can be left in nothing but a chasis without roof in 20minutes. They also start busting chop shops and how to identify is a shop is a chop shop.

It's over now, I say it's very worthy of watching.

It's over in ET, but should be there on PST soon. Not to mention the show may rotate later tonight.

It feels damn good to see all those thieves get caught live and chop shop owners getting busted

P.S. .....the show ends in a live recording of an Integra being stolen, burns the rubber and ran away.

 

aww man, they didn't show any hype-R's I thought they would at least show ONE of the most stolen cars in the US oh well, good show anyway

 

I saw this show few months ago.......anyway, I hope the police still have time and $$ to do this kinds of operation after 9/11

Yeah it was on in like January too. Very good program. Hopefully it will be on again this week as they show an SSBP GS-R getting ripped off

haha, I was just watching it...Dang..those guys are using a Honda Accord coupe as bait! They should freakin use a ITR ...they'll be catching thieves all night!

 

yea, I just watched it tonight. It was very imformative on what they are trying to do to catch theives. The best part was watching those people in that black accord after they would hit the kill switch. Classic

In the north Bronx the cops park a black 99-00 SI with sparco seats, 18's, dropped, exhaust etc. From what I hear they've caught many a fish with that car.

Monster Garage has to be one of my favorites Jesse James' attitude towards everything is so sweet.

 

good show!!, but monster garage ownz. American Chopper was filmed right by my house...I went to the BOCES that went visit them, but we never did anythin cool

 

Yeah Monster Garage is a good show. OCC is ok, WCC and Choppers Inc. owns OCC's show bikes tho The editing and humorous arguements make American Choppers/OCC good

 

The we-todds are nothing comparing to what they do in Monster Garage...they should get their trainnings there.

Plus, We-Todd relatives and near relatives HAVE been on Monster Garage/Discovery channel

 

They have a similar "bait car" program in Canada. They have been using it in British Columbia for about 6 months now.

They basically take regular cars, vans and trucks and install GPS tracking units in them as well as radios and remote controls.

They can lock the perp in the car or disable the vehicle (ignition) once it is in a safe area. All the while they are tracking the vehicles speed and direction with the GPS.
