Default test drove teh RSX type S

i actually test drove it last saturday. after reading alot of negative criticism about it...i must say, take the car out for a test drive before you diss it. everything besides the looks (which will grow on me), handling and speed is better over the type r.

+ cable mechanism shifter - smooth, short throws...amazing..better then teh type r's and i thot teh type r's shifter was teh cream of teh crop.
+ seats - they hold you in alot better then the current ones plus teh look somewhat lyke recaro's, anotehr + in my book.
+ automatic climate control - need i say more? no more 1-2-3-4 ac/heat settings.
+ ride comfort - this car makes teh type r feel like a truck. from what i could tell...from my few minutes of driving it, teh ride is more smooth then even teh tl.
+ road noise - road noise...WHAT ROAD NOISE?? they've drastically improved it up to lexus like noise levels (which is very quiet). in my type R, you have to speak loud just to hear ppl wen driving.
+ speed - teh car is pretty quick...although its so quiet and teh ride is so smooth, i coudlnt tell how fast i was really going. i think i hit 90-100 mph and it felt like 40 ish.
+ ergonomics - i loved teh way they designed teh new cup holders, no more drink in ur way of teh radio controls. i also like how teh made the ashtray and cigerrate lighter a option. (i dont smoke, wasted space imo).

- looks - it will grow on me...im starting to like it alot. especially with teh oem kit.
- handling - it felts a little more sluggish then my R, but better then teh GSR. (which i used to own one)
- speed - 200 lbs heavier then my car. not as fast as a type r...but quicker then a gsr by far.

i give teh car . teh salesmen told me that comptech is already developing a supercharger for it. when its going to be released? i dont know..ill find out more and give a more in depth review when i test drive it again. mean while...all you haters test drive it before you knock it.

Good details in your report, thanks!

I just saw my first one this morning at my local dealer. The overall shape is too chunky for my tastes, but it might grow on me. Compared to my first impression of the latest Celica, the RSX looked better, and the Celica's looks have grown on me, especially it's profile.

How do the interior materials compare to the G3 Integra? I wasn't able to sit in one, but it looked like the tops of the door panels were hard plastic, as opposed to the softer vinyl covering of the G3s. If I'm right, it seems kinda cheap to me. The dash and seats look like a major improvement (god I hate my slider HVAC controls!).

I guess I'll just have to take a test drive - hopefully without a salesman

I understand that there is a "break in period" is this compermised if every one test drives them at 90+ mph?? Just a question not a flame.... I'd probly do it myself if I wasnt' purchasing the car.... but if I were to purchase, is there a way to tell how it was drivin during this time? I guess the lowest miles possible would help..... mmmm just a thought.

I drove the Type S at lunch today with the salesman in the car and the air on the whole time. Most noticable is the low end torque..It has more response down low by picking up quickly at first. I say at first because after getting above 5k rpms the car sounded and felt like it was going to blow up...motor whines noticably and felt like it was kind of chugging as it approached redline. It was really weird...I didn't drive it much or without the air so don't know how much different it would be w/o a/c on. It is quiet but you can feel a lot of the road in it... Cool car but I won't be buying one anytime soon...That car just doesn't do it for me..I'd have to wait for it's big brother (CL type S) to get the 6-speed.. I'm sure it would be worth the difference.

yes, the salesman even wanted me to hang around until this other customer left so I could really open her up on the highway and back roads but I didn't have time. I said chugging because it felt like the a/c kept cutting on and off when winding it out. Could be just me. ...it seems to be faster up to 5k then just all show (noisewise) and no go after the 5k.. kind of like you need to shift at 6k instead of 7900. I know this sounds weird but I felt like I was hurting it somehow.... Maybe it needs to be broke in or the a/c off. This is my experience only and I only drove it around the block so another ride may change my mind but I doubt it.

I hope Acura was able to get rid of those annoying rattles that the Integra has. Does anyone know if the moonroof opens inside or outside the car?
