Noise from LSD?
i postyed this in the eg section as well but i figure i have an itr motor id post here as well
here is the deal and i will try to give all the details and keep it as shot as possible.
the car: 94 cx hatch with jdm itr motor and tranny.
the problem: When going around right hand clover leafs in 3rd gear about 40 mph if i let off the gas and leave the car in gear letting the car slow down via motor compresion, there is a clunking noise from the front left side wheel area. i can feel something in the floor board of the car as i hear the noise. it feels like a person hitting the bottom of the car with a rubber mallot. (no there is nobody under there i already checked) the noise is repetative/ rythmic. it also happens on the freeway when im going 70 and i hit a bump but in that case i can barely feel it. We have replaced the driverside axle with ls axle (inner joint was leaking) and lower ball joint (boot was broken). The noise is still there. motor mounts look good and from as far as we can tell the steering rack is ok to. had the car in the air and could not find anything loose or any bushings bad. i am thinking maybe rack or maybe the lsd. the shocks on the car are stock as far as i can tell. they have between 70-180k on them. any help or ideas would be great....

Have you considered a bad wheel bearing?

i figured out what it was. it was that my driverside motormount was missing a bolt causing it to flex. inturn making the exhaust hit violently on the bottom of the car. that all happened just before the driverside motor mount snaped on me oneday then i found the problem 400 dollars later no more noise
but it is stronger than it was before.
