d15z1 question
like the topic said i have a 88 dx civic and my friend is gonna loan his d15z1 to me for like a 100 buks like a rental i kno its dumb....but all i wanted to kno is that is it worth it to get my old motor out and put his enige in my car or should i just save my money and go for a b16? problem with my d15b2 right now is clutch is hella bad i mean its gone and starter is dead *not crankin* and i got the car like this so i just want to kno whats the best way i should go? do i need extra mounts or anything for the d15z1 or what? thanks everyone
never heard of a d15z1 i've heard of a d16z6 (vtec 92-95) and of a d15b1 (88-91 civic) its 90 hp or something like that but if you need it as any transportation i'd go with it, but if you don't need a car i'd just let it sit and use the 100 bucks to buy a zc or newer d series or a b or an h series engine
edit - or even an f or k series

I don't think there is such a thing as a D15Z1. D15B1 was the STD engine that had 70hp, D15B2 was the DX engine that made 92hp.
And any of those engines are only worth about $100, renting one for that much is a waste. Make him sell it to you.

see what a d15z1 one is it is the 92-95 civic vx model engine...here are the specs on it

Useless motor.... I knew a guy that had one at the track (it was a Civic VX) and the thing was running 18's. You could use your stock mounts, you'd just need to use the D15B2 driver's side engine mount bracket, slightly grounded away so that the timing belt won't rub. Seriously, I would not pay any cash for this motor. I don't know how you'd get that VTEC-E working. VTEC-E is a load of crap performance wise anyways - it's designed for economy. Save the money and get a D16Z6/D16Y8 or better yet a B16A.
