I just got my brand new Greddy MX in the mail. I need it to look as sleeper as possible, what would you all do?
1) paint the axle back flat black
2) paint the tip flat black
3) cut the tip off
I would cut the tip, but wont that make the exhaust temp heat the rear bumper cover, and possibly worp it, or ruin the paint? What did all you guys do? Thanks, Ryan

paint it all black. I painted my whole exhaust from front to back with 1200 degree engine paint. I got mine from Autozone but i'm sure any major auto parts store has it. 2 important things before you paint it, use some type of painters prep or mineral spirits to get the oil of it, seeing as it's new. And also run some sandpaper or a scoring pad over it to rough up the surface. Mines been painted for over a year and no chipping or flaking. Rattlecan will last forever if you prep correctly. Hope this helps.

I have Rust-oleum High Heat flat black 1,200 degree paint, this will work right? Thanks guys, any other suggestions are appreciated. With the tip cut does it make it any quieter? Thanks
Are you doing this to dodge the fix it tickets that you can get from cops in CA? I don't think paint is going to do any good against covering the loud sound you'll be making.

if you cut the tip, will the outlet be small enough for an OEM tip? a lot of people around here have Apex'I WS wxhausts, painted black, with OEM ITR tips. looks stock.

Yes, I am doing it to aid in being noticed by the police. I have a illegal engine swap, so I need all the help I can get. Chrome catches the eye a lot easier than black, right? So if it helps I am definately down. I know it will be louder than stock, but if you heard my custom bent job right now (way too loud), you would understand why I got the Greddy. I am moving to San Jose within the year, so I just want my car to look, and sound at least close to stock. That way, if they see me, then a bright orange hatch, with a kit, they will pull over him instead of me. Thanks, Ryan
i painted the muffler and rear piping on my greddy with just regular Krylon spray paint. i used satin black. i cleaned it first with brake cleaner spray, dried it and sprayed. no scuffing or prep. that way if i want i can use paint remover to go back to chrome. everyone who has seen it asked why i took the muffler off to go back to stock.(LOL) i did it to get the damn ricers to leave me alone...i was getting revved on at every light and asked to race through bumper to bumper traffic. since i went back to black that problem has subsided.

I painted my rear section today with the flat black, I scuffed the chrome and I am happy how it turned out. I prolly wont install it for a while, because I need to go to the college and use the lift. Thanks all. Ryan
