Default Sell my H22CRX for a 240SX...gimme your thoughts

I know this is Honda-Tech, but do yall think this is a bad idea? Are 240sx's good cars? How hard are the SR20 motors to work on? Does anyone think those motors can compare to a JDM H22? The 240 would be like a 91-93 non-fastback S13. I'm not sure what to do, tell me what you guys think about this. Thanks

keep the h22 crx unless you get an s14 *95+*

sr20's require parts from japan, pretty much not avail in the usa... my friend just did a swap, waiting for IC piping... i can let you know how it is once the IC piping comes in

overall they are nice cars, but the 89-93's just don't look good, 95 + looks phat - but cost a lot more money

Actually getting parts for them is really not hard anymore...they are more than enough sources, and it isnt any harder than a B16 in a 92 hatch. PM me for more info if needed, Ive done extensive research on this as I almost did it 2 months ago.

Oh yeah, that "everyone else is doing it" comment is better suited to a swaped Honda than a swaped Nissan.

honestly i wouldn't go to a 240 unless i was totally done tweaking hondas, or if i wanted to get the rear wheel/drifting thing, which i do, but thats for later in life. choke of my friends have them and they don't seem to bad, just they all have auto ones, lol. go for the old school 180sx or the s15 style, IMO, they look the sickest. just my .02

SR20 parts are easy as **** to find, SR20DE motors came on Infiniti G20s, and SE-R sentra/200sx models. SR20DET motors are the same just with a turbo thrown on it, same ****.

If you want some quick nissan info, just hop on over to my site http://www.garagetuners.com and register. I have like 5 people with SR20DET swaps in 90-93 models, they are really smart and honest guys. (shameless plug)

I was thinking about getting one, but i dont want to jump on the bandwagon. Im gonna ride the honda game out another 10 years.

just wait for the datsun fad, then get a 510, or a Zcar.
240sx were the laughed on by the Zheads back in the day, i bet they still do...
in other words, do what ever you want to do.

I love the 240 on paper (fairly practical, cheap, great motor selection, post good handling numbers, lots of aftermarket, look good when modified), but all the ones I've driven (which admittedly is not a lot) lacked the "fun" of my CRX. I honestly can't imagine buying a car to modify that isn't at least fun in stock form.

The CRX isn't fast or particularly good handling when stock, but it was sure as hell fun. Now that I've modded it, it's even more fun. I suggest you go drive some 240's and if they appeal to you, why not?

If you're into the RWD thing and you want a car that has more "fun factor" than the 240, I suggest a Miata. They're kinda like a RWD CRX, in my opinion. Both light, fun, short wheelbase, excellent handling cars that can be made scary fast with the right mods.

I love RWD (back to my V8 days), and there are so many mods for the 240, I just especially like the S13's. I want somethin different, granted no one in greater columbus has a H22 in a crx, but almost everyone drives a honda. Hardly any well modded 240's around here. The car doesn't handle that bad at all (I forget who asked). I just took the sway bar off the front because I'm fitting big nitrous bottle under the stereo, and the car still doesn't handle bad. Yeah I'm gonna make a new one, calm down.

How much do you think a h22 crx would sell for? Good body, no rust? I'd post pics but I haven't messed with imagestation before so I'm not sure how to put um on here.

You're right....a Miata would better compare to a CRX to some point...(weight,lenght,etc.)

But as far has power...can't go wrong with SR20Det transplant in a S13-14-15 car.I had the chance to see the difference between the K24 and the SR20det....too hot.
I had previously owned a few turbo car's before my Rex.With that ride I had,it brought back some psi memory

For a rwd car, that would be my choice.
Well,a Japan one.

No times yet, tracks just opened. I'd guess mid 13's only cause car won't hook up without slicks. So how much would you guys say this car is worth?

pics?
Description of all your stuff,
Then,a price guess would be more possible

Fast,fast,I would say roughly 8-9kCND or 5000-5600.

I didn't see the car...nor that I know what is in the car.

Not sure how to post pics on here so here goes.
-91 crx hf
-95 jdm h22 w/ jdm ecu
-msd digital ign. box
-aem cai
-vafc controller
-zex nitrous kit (only have 75 shot)
-motor has 45,000 on it I just put all new gaskets, tb, wp, etc.
-body has no rust just usual dings, needs paint, car is flat black for now
-has 17" ace spades ( i just got new 15" black ss rotas, with new azenis)
-dash has all autometer phantom guages in it, oil press., fuel, h20 temp, 5" tach mounted above clock and vents, af and volts on pillar
-hks hyper muffler with custom 2 1/4 i.d. exhaust
-dropzone coilovers (already on the car, not exactly my choice), stock struts
The only real problem is it rides rough of course, and I cut out most of the area under the stereo, and cut out some of the metal of the body around the sway bar for the nitrous bottle, it's stuffed in there but could easily be hidden. So you'd have a huge nitrous bottle under your stereo. I do plan on welding metal where I cut it out of the body. And a stock sway bar will work, but where it goes up in the middle will now have to go down under the downpipe, but it wouldn't scrape or anything. Whew, that's all I'm typin.

I'm gonna stick to my price range.

I would have to see the car in person to better judge...

Does your hood being cut to let the engine rest in place???
Looks like that in your avatar!

Yeah motor doesn't fit with hood, so yup it's cut. I have a T4 turbo I was gonna do up and put the intercooler above the motor behind the valve cover so I wasn't worried about it until I did that.

As for the bandwagon comments?

Unless you've been into Honda since 1995 or so, you can't even talk **** about anyone else jumping on any sort of bandwagon. Honda is THE biggest car for people in the 16-25 age range, so really cut the bullshit.

Honda = biggest bandwagon ever.

240sx has a lot of potential imo. Swap the suspension and it can be a great handler. The stock engine can be built up but it has a "truck like" characteristic (plenty of low end torque, not so great top end) so you might not want to go that route. For swapping purposes, the great thing is you can get a whole silvia front clip for relatively cheap.

The rb25det swap is also slowly catching on... just think about that. A closed deck, iron block, i6, daily driver, skyline madness!
