Are you using a spacer?

Basically it is a ring, made out of wood that you mount between the door and the speaker.

I didn't use wood for the spacer in my car. I took the plastic grill that comes with the speakers and made it into a spacer. You can do that with any 6.5 speaker grills. Take the mesh part off and use the outside frame. Put behind the speakers like spacers and drill the holes. Works great. And it's lighter then wood.

cut the back out of the factory basket and that should be all the spacer you will need.

if that dont work..just do what i did..just mount the speakers without the plastic bracket thing and drill your own holes to hold your 6.5's in...

I don't think there is even that much of a difference. I drilled gun holes in mine to lighten it y0!

lol... if you're that worried about weight you should get rid of the stereo and its components.
