Changing Brake Pads in the rain....
My buddy who is a mechaninc is gonna help me put in my Axxiss Ultimates today. We have a dry place to do the install but I'm worried about the brake in. Not only is it tought to find a spot to follow the directions but you have to let the car sit overnight. No problem, I would do that, but now it's raining out side and will be all day. I could maybe do it tomorrow, but then I'll be travelling for 3 weeks, and won't really have time to do them.
Is it a good idea to do them today, and "break" them in in the rain?
P.S. I know this is a retarded question....

Well I have no idea about changing the brake pads in the rain.
They say to use a big flat head screw driver or a "designated tool" to turn the back caliper pistons. My biggest flat head screw driver wouldnt work, so I used a putty/ spackeling knife. It was pretty weak but i put alot of strength behind it and was able to turn the piston fine, for the brake pads to fit.
oh yea make sure you grease the brake pads up and shims up, not on the actual PAD, but on the back/ areas where contacted with caliper/ shim

its easier to use a closed end wrench, get one that fits around one of the 4 half circles, then just twist it down. worked like a charm for me. then A C-clamp for the fronts
He never even mentioned that it was rear pads, more than likely he's changing the front pads!!!
You can change them in the rain no problem, there is no need to let the car sit up over night, thats plain horse ****! You do not have to break them in as soon as you fit them, just drive easy for a few days, theres no need to do all that crap braking from 70-50mph and letting them cool and then doing the same again. I have been driving 15 years, and i have changed brake pads in every single car i have owned (12 cars) and i just drive easy for a few days, and the pads will break in naturally. If however you do want to break them in there and then, rain will not make any difference as even slight braking generates huge heat which will dry out any moisture present
