Default Rally CRX

I'm a pretty big rally fan, and i might be getting a CRX soon from a friend. Im not sure what year or trim (although Im hoping it's an 88 HF). I already have a track car, and im not into drag racing too much, so i want to build it into a rally car. Now as I get more details on the car (condition, trim, etc) i will delve into specifics. For now i just want to know what you all think my chances of success are. Am I going into uncharted waters, or is there someone i should get in touch with? Thanks in advance.

just make sure you read all the rules, and pick a class before you start gutting.

You don't see too many rally CRXs out there. EF hatches get out a fair bit though. I'm not sure why that is...

There are Rally CRXs out there. Not like Dakar or mountain professional rally, but Laguna Seca etc type of racing. Most of them are 88 HFs with B16s or B18s. They are really competitive and have alot of wins in their respected class.

Oh, i learned my lession with my current car. Gutted and caged, tossed into E-prepared. the CRX will be a dedicated rally car, so gutting and caging is required.

i know that the CRX can be a formidable advisary on a road course. I have had the honor of running with Kam (driven EF8 or something like that) at the Streets of willow springs.

I should be taking delivery, if all goes well, in mid to late may. And i will definately be talking a lot to you and the SCAT guys (mainly you, rob, and mark) I think im gonna talk to travis (the guy at the bbq who wants to do your cage) about a rally-spec cage and a skid plate.

The rally im talking about is WRC style...Pikes peak, mountain road rally.

dont be ignorant.

The focus is my track/auto-x car.

i got some info on the CRX. Its an 84, and in decent condition. so im probably gonna use it as a beater/daily driver till i can afford a swap. maybe a ZC? its my understanding that a 1st gen B16 would require some custom mounts and such, right?

do dual side-drafts on a b18a.. that would be cool.. but the 84's are carbed.. personally, i'd recommend a 2nd gen.. could probably take the abuse much more. plus, first gens have torsien bars up front, whereas the 2nd gens have a coilover setup front/rear.. it may be easier to get a little more adjustability and travel with a 2nd gen.
