that's right
that's right
This is totally not meant to be a flame in any way, so please don't take it as such... But if all a spoon valve cover is, is an OEM Honda valve cover painted yellow, who would buy such a thing? Is there anything different about it, at all, besides someone at spoon spraypainting it?

you couldnt have said it better. assuming the paint quality on the cover is good. does it really matter??

Its clearly been painted by an amature.
They did not mask much off at or, or anything for that matter
ex..spark plug holes. top where oil cap goes.
The marks where it looks like it was tapes, where the bolts go.. They got hot, and melted the paint. Same happened to mine .

i highly doubt that it is a real spoon valve cover.
the only way to tell is if the seller can produce a receipt from A&J or one of their distributors to back it up.
there are two things to keep in mind. one, the spoon yellow valve cover is not usually offered for retail sale. they are typically used on spoon's demo cars or cars of close customers. even the spoon engines do not come with yellow valve covers. A&J was able to bring in a quantity of actual Spoon valve covers recently though, and several guys on HT do have them. But there are fewer than 10 of them
second, even Spoon has gone through several different versions/styles. The most current one is that seen in the current catalog. It has a smooth surface, the crackle coat is removed, and has gloss yellow paint. in early versions, the Honda emblem and DOHC VTEC are just painted over. but for someone to have such an early version is even more unlikely!
but anyways, here is the real deal valve cover

i think it's easier to tell how much u paid for it . u bought it off bonitapplebaum???
well...i don't think it'll actully make any different since they all yellow and painted yellow...

you really can't tell by those pics next to each other. depends on the lighting, angle, and type of camera and it's settings. only way to tell is to have them in the same shot

Yeah that valve cover is fake. Look at the spark plug holes, it painted yellow inside. Now look at the Spoon, and you see silver.

same for the oil cap. none of the spoons i've seen have been painted down in the areas like the second one has.
i'm going to also say that the second one is a fake.
