Out of curiousity, power gains from removing exhaust from cat back on a stock R?
If you unbolted the section from the cat back and let it run open, how much power would you gain? 6-8 hp? Would it mess with the ECU at all?
Not sure about the power gains but I know it doesn't mess with the ECU....
as a basic reference....
my friend's SiR runs 14.7X with the stock catback and when he removed the entire mess....saving some weight and by his butt dyno gaining some dope top end....
he runs a 14.49....
I heard from the old mailing list a long TIME ago..when VTEC.net was the place to go to talk R-talk.... that somebody dynoed it open header and gained almost 10whp....
but then that could be the cobwebs in my memories....

any hp gain would be dope! How loud would this be? Could i drive it around town without getting a ticket if i keep it in the lower rpm's?
I Dynoed my R At DynoSpot racing on a Dyno jet and only gained .3 (3/10) WHP.
It sure does sound good though!
The Cat is the worst bottleneck of the R exhaust.
