Relocating Fuel Filter
I know it sounds relatively easy, I was just wondering if anyone has every tried this on a 5th gen Accord? I'm thinking about moving it upto near the top of the engine bay, where I can change it out very easily. I think the only thing that would have to be adjusted is the main fuel line, maybe extended. Before I go at it, I would like to know if anyone has done it before and what methods they used?
edit: Here's another topic on the matter, but no one ever replied. All input is welcomed.

I'm in the process of moving mine and I should be done with it tomorrow and i will get some pics uploaded and part numbers of what is needed to move it up in the engine bay.

Do not attempt this, because you will get yourself into something you will regret. I'm saying this from experience. The only way that will work is if you cut off the flair on the fuel line and get a AN sleeve that will have to be slipped in and then reflaired using a AN flair. To do this you'll have to tow your car to some shop that does this and they are going to have trouble because they can't reach it.
Another method I tried was to cut off the little nut on the underside of the filter and weld a 6-AN fitting on the other end to make an adapter piece. This seemed like it was going to work however it ended up leaking through the welds once pressure was put through the fuel line.
So in my opinion this is not worth it unless you have a real and I mean real good reason. Also you rarely need to replace your filter.

Thanks for your info but what I ended up getting was a 5/16 tube adapter to a -6 an fitting which will require me to cut the flare off but its not big deal as long as you have all the right parts
if you have normal fuel pressure what's the point, I can see if you needed the room or poor fuel pressure, then move it, other than that I'd leave it

After doing some thinking, I don't see why this would be hard as some people like to make it out to be.
If you look at your standard fuel filter, it looks like the stock fuel line (I'm not sure if these size are correct, but its the theory I am trying to get at..) uses a -8 flare to go into the fuel filter. SO.
Why not do this:
-8 female swivel to -8 AN male to connect the stock fuel line to this fitting.
Then, use a -8 AN hose end to connect the braided fuel line to the -8 AN male that's on the stock fuel fitting.
Then connect the other end of the fuel line to a -8 AN hose end to the new after market fuel filter. Then the same process up to the fuel rail. I haven't quite figured out howto connect the braided line to the fuel rail, like which fitting to use. This is where you all come in and solve the problem. accordhybrid would be a great help if he would just give us the parts list!
There should be no welding or any B.S involved, unless I've overlooked something.

I will try and get the parts list up next week I have been busy with other things in my life right now but the -8 is to big you need to use all -6 and you can't use the stock fitting on the hard line going into the stock fuel filter cause you need to find a fitting that uses an inverted flare and is about 1/2 inch deep and no one makes anything like that.

Ahh, sweet. I didnt know. I'm looking inside my fuel filter now and I see what you mean. ARG! Somebody has to make one!
What'd you end up doing to get the stock fuel line to adapt to your steel braided lines?
Thanks, we all appreciate your hard work!

And looking forward to the parts list, I haven't been this excited in a while about doing a mod.

I used a compression fitting and cut the stock fuel line just after the bend under the car the fitting was a 5/16 to -6 and then that went to a -6 45degree fitting
The compression fitting part number is EAR-165056

You are god. I can now start this mod immediately. What about the line that runs into the fuel rail, what kind of fitting? Also where did you get that fitting? The part number looks like its an Earl or Holley part, would their website have it, or did you get it from Summit?
hey if you have aol IM hit me on there its accord97hybrid
Also I just used russell -6 3 ft of hose and yes i have been driving it and it all works I had no leaks at all. What fuel rail are you using?

Okay I ordered all the parts to do this swap. Here's the juicy details. Thanks to accordhybrid for help on this. He did all the foot work so props.
Here's the parts list first of all:
Part # .................. Description
EAR-165056 .......... -6 AN Male to 5/16" Tubing adapter (this is a compression fitting.) It is used to clamp onto the stock metal fuel line. You will have to cut this flare nut off the below the bend. And clamp this part onto it, it will lock tightly, and won't leak.
EAR-804606 .......... -6 AN, 45 degree swivel seal hose-end (this will attach to the compression fitting.)
EAR-809106 .......... -6 AN, 90 degree bent tube, Swivel-Seal hose-end (you need 3 of these. One for each side of the fuel filter, and one for the fuel rail.)
RUS-632050 ......... 3 feet of steel braided hoses.
RUS-650130 ......... The actual new fuel filter!
EAR-9894DBH ...... -6 AN hose-end to female end. I'm not sure, because I was tired last night when we figured this out, but I believe the compression fitting has a male end on it, this attaches to that, and lets you put the fuel line onto it.
Here's the only discrepencies as of right now. The parts list above is designed to fit an AEM Fuel Rail. For those of you that have stock fuel rails, you MIGHT need to get a -6 AN male to -6 AN (or regular threaded end) to attach to one of the 90 degree hose-ends. The reason for this is because I believe that the AEM rail has a -6 AN male end on it, where as the stock fuel rail has a -6 AN female end. I'll find out once I check it out tomorrow. I over-nighted all these parts, so I will update this as soon as possible.
Once again thanks to accordhybrid for his hard work and research.
Peace.

They are such a bitch to get to when you have to change it.. I don't see why anyone wouldn't relocate it.
What kind of fitting did you use on the stock AN flare nut to extend it?

This part screws into the AEM fuel rail and it has a rubber o-ring on it and that is a 14x1.5 and converts to a -6 for the 90 degree fitting

Cool, just tell me one thing, how'd you get the fuel line to fit into the 90 degree fittings? I cannot for the life of me get the f'n fuel line in there without damaging the braids, wtf, who makes such a tight fit?
There's always some gay *** problem, not even a technical one.
