Default power windows on crx

ok. im sure that i am not the only Crex owner to realize that we here in the USDM realm got jipped out on the cool **** that can be found in the JDM one. from the front end and stuff, to the hood with the scoop, to the coolest thing that pisses me off..... POWER WINDOWS. is there and USDM conversion know that can solve this delema?!!!! also, JDM gets an uncomfortable smushy rear seat. it looks hella cool though.
bump for honda-tech and the honest users

i know u said USDM conversion, but u can easily find a JDM power window kit on ebay. installation is really easy, its just the wiring that takes a little bit of time. I got a JDM kit off ebay, and i like it alot. I think someone also mentioned before that CRX/EF's in Canada, one of the models had optional power windows. Search around some more, but i hope this helped a little.

Ya, but think about it... all the main controls for the power windows would be on the passenger side since that is the drivers side in JDM Land... so the driver would still have to lean over to do everything... unless you make a custom panel or something on the new driverside panel, you know what I mean?

haha, yeah. i have one switch on the driver side and the dual switches on the pass. side but only one of them is hooked up on that side. I dont mind leaning over everytime i need to open the pass. side window. I just have to hit the button rather than turning the window crank manually. so no big deal. The other alternative is to find another dual switch, and have them on both sides....but yeah, i like my power windows.

that's what i have thought about doing- having just 2 switches in the center & nothing in the doors. you'd just have to put some tweeters or something in the door to fill the crankholes.

I managed to find a 88-89 CRX or Civic with a OE Honda Power window kit. Very slick !!!!!
Picked up door panels, window regulators with motors, all wiring, switch etc..
Really cool the honda kit just plugs right into the main harness under the dash.

HHHaaahha Added bonus it has Auto up and Auto Down !!!

and its North American so none of this 2 button bullshit on the passengers side

Will post some pics

cheers
happy hunting

You also could try the EDM Leather SiR VTEC panels.. has the auto down and double controls on the left side of the car

All of you ppl with the JDM power windows, you can flip the swithces over and put it so that the two are on the driver side and the one is on the passenger side. The lettering will bu upside dow, but just remove the stickers and fix that if it bothers you. Whala, no more leaning over.

i thought it was that easy also, but if u switch sides, you'd have to cut the hole bigger for the driver side, which isnt that bit of a deal. The problem is the passenger side, the whole switch/handle is like an inch shorter, and its a lot of work to fill in that hole. thats just from my experience.

I've got the window motors from a 90 civic LX and all I had to do was swap the "rails" from the stock manual regulator. I also have very basic switches from the rear doors of a 94 hundai elantra. they're also illuminated when the headlights go on! All of this is tucked under my e-brake cover, can't see it from the outside but bother driver and passanger can use the switches.
surprisingly enough, the electric assemblies bolt up to the USDM door skin using different holes then the manual ones.
I was pleasantly surprised. hands down one of the best "mods" I've done to my car in the past 6 months.

Here's what I did:

Purchased JDM Power Windows on eBay.
Using my CRX Si door panels, I cut the holes on the doors a bit larger for the window controls. I put the main controls on my drivers side (just flipped it upside down). Replaced the regulators inside the doors with the JDM ones. Figured out the wiring using the JDM Mechanics Manual that was found the the web (i forgot the url). and now everything is powered. The only feature that doesn't work the the auto up/down.

I'll take some pictures as soon as I can.

I would like to see pictures.......
As the JDM controls can't just be flipped as some people say......
The housing that holds the switch isn't square.......

But if you have time and some body filler anything is possible......

later

Yes come Canadian CRXs had power windows as an option, but for some reason they were like a $500 option at OEM starting. If you cant find CDM ones you can go for JDM ones if you dont mind going over to open the passenger window. But there is a third option that not too many people exploit. In some European countries CRXs were right hand drive but they were filled with all the JDM goodies. Including power windows on most models. The wiring and switches are on the correct side for USDM use. I hope this helps.

I have the Spal kit in my hatch and I love it!!! I got the 2-switch kit and mounted the switches in the stock knockouts of my '99 Teg center console.
