i bought a distrubtor from my friend and the CPS is bad, i was wondering if there was anyway to replace the sensor with out replacing the entire dist.

Not that I'm aware of.

I just called Honda and asked for a CYP sensor and they told me that you always have to buy at least the distributor sub assembly.

So the answer is most definately no.

only if you have anpther distributor that may have had a different problem, maybe cut harness, or cracked housing.

Well if it were me I would not want to buy used sensors because they too could either be non-functional or on the verge of not working.

It sucks but I'd just buy a new sub assembly and have the pieve of mind that you'll be good to go for a long time.
