Default knock sensor relocation on a D-series block

I have a D16y7 block with a y8 head
JRSC @ 8 psi
zex 59300 cam with adjustable cam gear
zex springs on stock retainers.
kami header, etc etc and a couple other mods
including hondata 2b on a PR3 ecu.

Anyways, the zex 59300 camshaft is making a LOT of valve chatter.
.006 on the intakes a
.009 on the exhaust valves

I think my power loss is from the knock sensor picking up the additional "noise" when vtec kicks in. it is LOUD!... so, where on the d-series block can I relocate the knock sensor to? I'm losing a LOT of power. ~ 70 hp around 5500-6500 rpm to be exact. I'm at a loss. PLEASE HELP!

well if there is lots of valve chatter you did it wrong...there shouldn't be any. When you did it you did it so the piston you were working on was at TDC and when you were finished you only had the .009 and .006 inches of play with each rocker?

Well, the zex camshafts are notorious for lots of valve train noise... Many talk about it on the d-series boards and so that it's quite noisy.

I've rebuilt a lot of cylinder heads on the single cam engines (especially the z6 and y8s) and such, so the cam install on the sohc engine is easy for me.

The specs for the stock engine is .008 on the intakes and .010 on the exhaust (stock) I believe. .006 and .009 is what I lashed it to, as per the recommendation on the d-boards.

I'm not sure. it's noisy... and no matter what kind of adjustments are made, it's not quieting down.

only DOHC v-tec engines have knock sensors. Your SOHC non-vtec will not so thats not your loss of power. Sorry to say. I think you have something else wrong, double check your cam/ignition timing and make sure its all correct. Its that or your fuel/timing maps are not taking full advantage of your new cam

Just noticed your using a PR3 ECU....you have a V-tec ECU on a non-vtec?? you must have codes like crazy, no 2nd o2, oil pressure, V-tec??

It's a mini-me setup. D16y7 bottom/y8 (VTEC head)
PR3 ecu to control VTEC..
although I have a v-afc

I have a 2nd O2 hooked up. It's 15 bucks new at the autoparts store and there is a knock sensor.... D16y8 engines do have them from the factory also.

Damn I stand corrected....My bad I know with ls-vtecs you can mount it in the alt bracket, ground the wire itself or add a resistor.
