Knock Sensor?? HELP!
I have been working on this mini-me swap on my 00 dx for months. I finally got it running and i checked for any diagnostic codes because it was running like crap. it's was code 23 for obd2, and it's the knock sensor. Checked the knock sensor and realized, yes I don't have one . I have the y7 block and the y8 head. In the manual it claims upon unscrewing the knock sensor coolant will come out, but no coolant is coming out right now.. . . I'm so confused . If I just hook up the knock sensor will this solve my shitty running problems?

dude, the y7 block DOES NOT HAVE A KNOCK SENSOR....
it never did, the p2p ecu which you are probably using, (the sohc vtec ecu) is going to be looking for a KS, and that block doesnt have one, you will have to tap the block and add one....
or just plug it in and hang it somewhere, it worked for me! (but that was just becasue i broke mine accidentaly

Wrong, y7 block is already tapped for this, just screw it in and plug it in (except your harness is probably missing the plug for it)

No coolant runs into the knock sensor. I'm not sure why the y8 would be tapped so far in as to run the knock sensor inside the coolant traces. On the B16 at least, it doesn't. You can pull it out whenever you want. It's just a threaded hole that deadends.
Basically, if you take a knock sensor apart, all that it is, inside, is a silicate wafer with two contacts on it if something impacts the engine enough to make that wafer shake at all, it grounds out to the engine block and "triggers" the knock line.
You could simulate engine knock by just taking a tack hammer or something and tapping on the block by the KS while it was running

Ok so the knock sensor will thrwo a code and that's it, now i came up with a problem with some new, quite disturbing codes, seems each one of my cylinders are misfiring. . . anyone know what kind of timing needs to be done on a 2000 ex with a turbo? That should fix the problem . . . right?
I don't know where else to turn. . . If this helps, the engine is idleing reallly low, but every 1 or 2 seconds it will rev up to about 3000 then drop. This is only when it is not in gear of course.
