MAX-REV kit users i have a simple filter solution! or anyone else w/ tight filter location
for those who have the max-rev kit and have had the headache of trying to install a filter i have your easy 10 min solution.
like others i had a hard time figuring out how to install a filter on my maxrev set up due to the tight space and the clutch hard line getting in the way. (see pic below)
searching on here yeilded some creative results and gave me some ideas but being the type of person to like the path of least resistance (ok so i'm lazy) i looked for other solutions.
i remebered one time at a show i saw some guy with a fmax kit and recalled he had an intake tube that was made of this dryer type tubing but made of rubber instead (see the kit here)
so i looked for fmax dealers to see if i can buy this tube and ran into jesse from http://www.turbokits.com (btw this guy knows his ****, and his prices are pretty damn good!
imo)
jesse actually offered it to me for free! he said he wasnt going to use it cause he was building a full race prelude.
anyhow once i got home i got to work, i used a 2.75" diameter 45 degree silicon elbow i bought from baker precision
plus i bought a 3" inlet k&n tapered filter cone and installed it in about 10 mins. no bending of the hard line, no cutting the block, it was super simple!
i wish i had a pic (actually i'll get one soon) cause this setup looks very clean. anyhow hope this helps anyone with the filter dilema.

i just used my old cold air extension. all i had to do was bend the line to the clutch master cylinder a little bit. looks good IMO
need some pictures!... and im wondering what the rest of the max rev owners are using right now... i still dont know what im gonna use.. i was thinking apexi power filter.. but you need a special adapter for it?

Made my own pipe in a couple mins, had to wait for the paint to dry, but that's about it. Reused my old K&N from my cold air intake. Friend did some welding for me, voila. Done.

hmmm will there be any real decrease in temp from extending it a little farther from the turbo and block? I have a filter mounted on the inlet now...

here are some pics! sorry for the wait but i dont own a digi, enjoy.
I have a question, sorry if it s a noob one but what happens if you don;t run a filter?
The reason why i ask is because i purchased a used fmax kit and i realized that it didn;t come with a filter or an extension as the one h-t members have posted. Is it ok not to have a filter? what would happen?
Thanks

Just a lil something about the filter you have above... there is a little metal piece on top of the filter that is known for coming loose and falling into the filter (looks like a bell). On my CAI it fell in but luckily it was too far to be sucked into my TB... id hate to see what would happen to your turbo if it fell off....
it looked like its just silicone holding that piece to the filter...
fyi
