uhhh........you got some $$$ because unless you do, spoon parts cost an arm and a leg. If you get an ek, your going to want to ditch the sohc for a dohc if you want to have some go. Right there that will set you back (5000 for stock ek) 2800(b16a=160hp, jdm version 170hp, 3200-3600 GSR=170hp, jdm 180hp, or you can get a Type R but that will set you back between 4300-5000=195hp.) So start learning while you save so when you have the money you can do everything right the FIRST time!

yeah, i figured that, parts are high, but damn, im doin **** rite the first time, thats definate. i have cheked out a lot of prices on spoon and i am prepared to spend it. first things first, i gotta get the ek. money is no problem, i am a technician for a dealership and i should b gettin a raise here soon. but i appreciate tha advive. ill take all that into consideration once the actual planning starts.

 

Thats what i meant "DO THINGS RIGHT THE FIRST TIME". If you are short on cash then dont go with spoon. THere are plenty of parts that are half the price of spoon that do the job equally, trust me you will learn in time. Its all about the name in alot of places. You dont want to try and get the most popular name brands for bolt-on parts that really arn't going to give you the hp your looking for, especially on a sohc. You want to find out good places that have swaps and work from there. Now thats not saying you cant work with a sohc, becuase you can. You can buy a turbo kit(but then again you should beef up internals before you do that, OR you could go N/A and if done right, be handed plenty of respect by people who just went with bigger displacement like me. Its all up to you, but dont sweat the small stuff like what name brands are most popular because more $$ isnt always better. (fod for thought.....there is only so many ways you can design an intake to draw in air)

and just to warn you before you make any descisions you might reget... if you buy a civic and you stick around on this site, you will spend some serious $ and it will take you years untill you begin to feel satisfied with the performance of your car.

the best advice i can give you is that before you buy ANYTHING, search until you are discgusted with your cpu, there are thousands of people on this site that can offer good and bad advise, but you have to be the judge.

for that guy wandrin if i was gay, well, it is my last name, but sexually i aint gay. i like the puss. damn, i know a lot of people spend **** loads of money on the brand names because they think its the best way to go, but that aint me. spoon for some reason is what got me into this whole jdm thing. i rekon u can say the spoony bastrds inspired me. i also know there are alot of great products out ther that are cheaper and may do the job better. i will look into that. when it comes to modifing anything it involves alot of time, paitence and **** load of $$$$$. im into everything, imports, domestiks, streetrods and even the damn lowrider stuff. im just a carnut all together. i respect anything anyone does to ther ride cuz thats what they like, i may not personally like it myself but its all bout the respect. i chose an ek to hook up simply cuz the truck of choice is very hard to come by. (55-57 chvy pik up) like i said, i enjoy a wide range of customizing. im just ready to get in ther and learn as much as i can. this is my life and im glad there are website out here like h-t so i can get questions answered formysel as well as help others out as well. like i said i am a technician but ill never quit learnin. obviously i am from the country but the damn import scene has exploded in the south in the past 2 years. especially after that damn fast and the furious crap. ive beeninto this **** all my life and the only thing better than hookin up a car or truck is puss....
