can you wire an 8 ohm speaker on a 4 ohm amp?

sorry I forgot to say that it is 2 8 ohm speakers.
how do you hook it up, do you hook it up normally or parrallel or series?

hook them up parallel...put the two positive together and the two negatives together....the to in parallel equals 4 ohms....two 8 ohm speaker in sieres equals 16 ohms.
