Default Kumho 712 Problems

Anybody else unhappy w/ the Ecsta 712's? Found a bubble in the front tire which caused it to go flat this morning, and the treadwear has been worse than the RE-010's. They claim the bubble is from hitting a pothole, but I thinks that's B.S. Less than 4,000 miles with one auto-x and these tires have gone completely to sh#t. No warranty on Kumho's either. I am alone when I say this is my last set of Kumhos for this car?

I got them from the tire rack. They're no help, they only offer the manufacturers warranty, and in this case there isn't one.

I usually go to NTB to have tires mounted and balanced, and they usually ask if I wanted any additional things to pay for (like maybe a roadhazard "warranty"). But I guess you would have known if you'd gotten one. Good luck, ed

Hancook's actually cost more and they REALLY do suck.

My friend has them and damn, they are worse than his all seasons.

it all depends on where you get them. I got a set of 16" 205/55 and 245/45 for under 300. Now that's cheap, and cheaper than kumho 712s. Some food for thought. You can't expect too much out of cheap tires. What did you expect?

if you had bought the tires from discount tire co. you could have purchased lifetime certifications for the life of your tires, and those replace the tires due to road hazards, or excessive wear, the bubble is what is called an impact bruise, you hit somthing pretty hard, and what is happening is that the tires sidewall is separating. do not drive on it, it will blow out! you should have bought yokohama A520 tires instead, maybe a 205/50/15

No problems..and I've tracked on mine..and really abused them recently by rally style driving on hilly and bumpy back roads..at over 100-110mph. No bubbles no nothing. But then again this was at night and I was kinda PO'ed at the time...but oh well. I have friend and he's on his second set and he says there great...no problems. I'll be driving in the mountains with them this coming week. I sure hope they last cuz I don't want to lose grip at over 1,700 feet.

I haven't had one single problem with mine. I have had lesser experiences from tires that cost far more, including bubbling and such, with no help from the maker. Tires are a wear item, ya know.

If you're getting tires from TireRack - ask them to heat cycle them for you. It's a good durability enhancer.

The only complaint I have is that the side walls could be much sturdier... but then again, can't really complain for the money...

You guys who are racing on them are really asking for a scuffed car... Kumho has a much better tire designed for that type of action...

I've had no problems with mine - for the money I couldn't ask for more.

I just put on my 195/55/15 Kuhmo Supra Ecsta 712 tires on today only for the fronts...I'd say they perform good...I still prefer the stock RE-10's though....I tried taking a corner hard and the tires didn't do too good...I can feel the side wall of the tire flex...Never had this problem with the RE-10's...On straight line acceleration, I like it. There was no wheel hop. Just minimal slip and good grip on the 1-2 2-3 shifts. We'll see later on down the road how these tires do when they get "broken" in...

I noticed a marked improvement in the tires after a couple thousand miles...

I don't have sidewall issue as I went to 215/45 16ZR tyre. I know the 45 is pretty stiff as I've tracked it pretty hard..without fail. I never liked the OEM tyres for tracking but just reg. driving there great.

I agree with Flux. They get better after a couple thousand miles. For the money, I am completely satisfied. Sure they don't grip as well as RE010's, but they cost a third as much. Still a great tire for the money.
