b16 swap is DONE! YAAAAY!
AHHHH! It's finally done! WOOHOO! b16 swap in my 90 CRX.... just got it back from the shop because there were some wiring issues that they helped me sort out, but i did the entire swap myself other than that. VTEC engaged at 5000 right off the bat, no CEL, no codes from the ecu. I'm so happy, I could cry right now! You guys just don't know the trouble I ran into on this swap between wrong parts, problems in the wiring, etc, etc. You name it, I pretty much had trouble with it. My friend drove me up there to pick her up, and on the way back, after i shook it down and made sure everything was runnin right, we pulled up to a stop light, and wouldnt ya know it... first two cars there. He drives a 2002 civic si. Dead even with him from the light, and pulled about a car and a half on him by 3rd gear, then pulled in front of him so we could get on the interstate, backed off at about 70 because A: the speed limit was 60, and B: I was astounded as to how fast I got up to 70! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I'm gonna go look at my car in between breaks from work now. THANKS EVERYBODY FOR ALL YOUR HELP WHEN I HAD QUESTIONS! You rock! i'll post pics as soon as I get em....and as soon as I stop driving( have the next 3 days off)
Glad to hear it, I just got mine going last week. I ran into just as many problems, but when it's all done it is so worth it. I just got my 2 1/2" mandrel exhaust put on, on the way back, launched first real nice, spun a little through second, and chirped thrid. Chirping third in a 90's CRX is a great feeling.
Congratulations dude!
I remember all the bullsh&* you went through!
One thing... shouldn't you have gone easy on the B16? I only beat on mine after 800 kms... new clutch, needed to break it in. I also changed the oil at 800 kms too, just to be safe.

Drove it around all day and never got on the throttle real hard....till my friend started revvin on me at the light on the way to work. so i took it up to about 6500 and still beat him. Not brave enough to take it up to 8000 yet
Thanks for the encouragement though, B-Rex is back on the road....

the list of things that went wrong are as follows:
everything.
no seriously, everything.
truly everything.
it was mostly because i had to change so many parts out from what was originally on the motor. it was in a 92 civic hatch, so i had to get:
obd0 dizzy
obd0 injectors
clutch stay bracket(for the lack of clutch cable the hatchy has)
drivers side TEG motor mount bracket
HAsport ac bracket
various bolts and nuts
new ac belt
a mechanic to fix the wire harness that HAsport fucked up(dont get me started, its a long story)
so yeah, those are just some of the problems with the swap I had.
The sense of accomplishment I have now that its done knowing that i did it myself: priceless.
There are some things ricers can buy. For everything else, there's VTEC.
I dont know how much sense that made, but i dont care because my swap is done, therefore I don't need to make sense, and i'm gonna go get drunk tonight.(and no, not drive afterwards)

Things that went wrong:
Hit the rear crossmember too hard and seriously f%*(ed up the rear mount holes.
Rear mount had to me slightly modified to work (this was after 2 weeks of thinking I was totally screwed)
For 3 days car had spark, timing, compression, fuel to the rail and would not start.
Turned out to be injectors, it really is blood, sweat, and tears till it's over with, but after every swap I've done I've always thought it was worth doing it in the end.

Sounds like every swap I've ever been involved in in any way
Good to hear it's running! I love that 'new swap' feeling, nothing better than finally taking it out the garage and driving it around, that sense of accomplishment... good job man! Enjoy the rewards!

The only thing I don't particularly like is the tranny. It's an S1 tranny, so i'm doin like 4100rpm at 70.
It's fun as hell on regular roads, but on the highway, i just don't like takin her up that high for like a half hour at a time. I mean, I hit 75 and i'm in 5th gear VTEC.......guess i'll just have to take her to the track a lil and appreciate what the S1 is the best for
My friend from H-T and a few of my other buds went to Daytona Beach yesterday and she got some pretty nice pics, so i'll have to post em when I can get em from her, so stay tuned everybody. Beach+VTEC=
