I'm about to install a Greddy turbo on my '95 Si. I' m unsure about fuel and ignition management.

I'm wrestling with two choices:

1. VAFC Hack w/ DSM 450cc injectors -

This seems like a relatively cheap alternative but doesn't do anything about ignition management. Also I'd prefer not to deal with the resistor box and injector seal issues.

2. Hondata w/ stock injectors -
The fuel and ignition maps could be tuned to provide a good torque curve with a good safety margin.

I'll be running a DSM SMIC and I don't have any intention of raising boost over the stock configuration.

Peak HP numbers aren't that important to me. My main concerns are reliability, drivability, and passing California smog inspections with minimal hassle.

Any real world experiences would be apprecaited!

 

If you don't have any intention of turning boost past the stock setting of the greddy kit(5.5psi) Stock injectors will probably work. I just went one heat range colder. You will not need a hondata or AFC hack. The blue box will run the car very reliably(despite what everyone else will tell you on this board). I have had my kit running stock boost for over 6 months now. can't complain. I get around 26-32 mpg and have hit 5psi(.5 psi drop from big FMIC)everytime I drive. Greddy kit is wonderfully realiable

 

Myself and someone I know have the D16/with the greddy turbo, and we run 10psi on the stock injectors. If you get a fuel pump and fmu you should be ok. I would also recommend some NGK's one heat range colder.

 

I thought the Blue box made the car run excessively rich.

 

Yeah thats pretty much just hear say blah blah blah from HT people whos friend knows some other guy who is the father to some kid that has a greddy kit. It turns out he also instaled it wrong to begin with. I have a greddy kit and I've had it dynoed; fuel is fine 12-13 a/f from 3,500rpms-7,300rpms nice and safe. Car runs fine.
