Why is the ITR stolen so often?
I know its because their is a huge market for the b18c5 and the interior peices.. but why are these cars stolen more ofthen than just about anything? Why arent the theives rippings of mercedes, porsche's. etc. etc... Is the ITR really easy for thieves to steal or soemthing?

high demand for the parts.
keep in mind the typical person who buys from a thief is looking for a "killer deal" and most of the people who dont have much cash decide to get a cheap shell (i.e. civic) and throw a motor in it and call it a type r.
oh yeah. a big **** YOU to thieves causing my insurance to be as insane as it is.

Lots of demand from people who want to pay less for parts. Some cars get exported too, and some ITR owners steal to replace their parts. Some also sell their own parts and then claim the car stolen.
(and yes, that has all happened locally, I went to look at the insurance fraud car myself to buy it until I found out the story)

Whats the best prevention to keep it from gettin jacked? Just us an immobilizer and a good alarm?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Well, my opinion is very different from others regarding this subject.. my solution is to make the car less desirable.. gutting it, not washing it, etc all worked... body damage works really well.. but most people don't like such solutions
it does work though.

how else will the regular honda driver upgrade their goods?

You can't just walk into a dealer and ask for an Integra Type-R. OEM Honda parts are pretty expensive too. So I guess people just buy stolen **** because there so god damn cheap.
Who is going to steal my Porsche? Another Porsche driver looking to upgrade his base Boxster to an S? There just isn't a market for the parts. That's why the insurance for my $60k Porsche is cheaper than it was for the R.

Because the car has exotic parts that bolt right into a Civic, a car that itself has made a huge market for people who want to go fast without spending a lot of money. Combined with the crazy 'R' hype you have a car that is a thieve's dream.
1. high demand for parts and others who will buy stolen goods
2. interchangability
3. integra wasnt changed for 8 years, more than enough time for thieves to develop ways to bypass the factory's weak security measures.

I'm pretty sure they came from honda... the first engine he ran low on oil... then that was replaced and he drove it off a bank, and that engine needed replacing. Now he's on his third engine and i dont think the car is even on the road right now... poor ITR
