I've been playing with these units for 2yrs now and i can't believe all this time I was under the impression that when you disable the knock sensor error in Romeditor, that you are not actually disabling the knock sensor timing retard, only the errors!!!
That can explain alot when I've been tuning cars and getting all sorts of strange occurances at high boost and then looking back at the timing advance on the Datalogger seeing so much timing pulled.

yea, p28s are nice and thats what i used to run since i had a skunk 2 mani.
but for those who want to keep their stock dual runners and use the p72, unless you physically unplug the knock sensor, it will pull timing and i'm talking lots of timing. here's a graph.....

there's all sorts of weirdness going on there in the timing. This car would run a couple strong runs (500HP at 18psi) then all of a sudden would run like crap! I don't know if he has a bad sensor somewhere or if his ignition is bad. i'll have to look at more stuff
For P72 roms, change the BYTE at address 5467 to 00 to TOTALLY disable the knock 
If you dont kno what i'm talking about, open up the hondata rom bin with a hex editor, goto address 5467 (hexadecimal), and change that byte to 00.

If the distributor is set to 16 degrees base and teh ecu advances 30 degrees why do you subtract it? I could see if the distributor was set 16 degrees retarded and the ecu then advances 30 degrees from their. Is that what is going on?

Thats good to know but i would just hook up the knock. unless it was a lsvtec in a 88 91 or lsvtec in a 2-5 with a gsr ecu. also if you actually connect the knock some how to the block?? any input that?? i am curious.
With the AEM you can log how much knock your engine makes under normal conditions. Then when the knock sensor goes above the knock threashold you can set it to pull as little or as much timing as you like.

Easy solution to this, pull the knock sensor plug off the sensor or use a p28 ecu. Even using the binary code in the hexidecimal like Uber said will work. Now that I have realized this I am just going to pull off the knock sensor plug when I tune p72 ecu's.
BTW, the knock sensor pulls back timing in unwanted amounts. You dont have any control over it at all. If you are detonating its already to late, the knock sensor wont save your ***.
