I want to HPDE at hyperfest (summit) and i was wondering if any crx racers/hpde-ers recomend tires and brake pads. Thats all i'm going to upgrade for now... i know i really would like brake pads because the stock pads suck (or the pads the previous owner had installed). any road race/hpde guys got any tips?
what kind of racing do you do?
Are thise for race or daily driving.. good race tries are not going to last very long on the street, and usually suck hard in the rain...
Good race pads won't work well until you heat them up..

NASA HPDE driving school... i'm looking at azenis... for the tires... i know they are loud, suck in the rain... ;-) but fashionable and track worthy... i'll be looking to get rims (stock) to put street only tires on later. I give alot of space and in the stop and go driving around d.c. nothing will ever heat up so i'll swap pads in and out as needed.
i would probably do some RA-1s or the victoracer v700s just my .02 tho
azenis heat cycle so fast and get all mushy, but if you can keep them cool (ie just spray water on them) then they are fukin awesome

Hi matt..
I second RA1's.. they simply kick ***, on track in the rain or not (By beemers) and have a great tread life. And Azenis suck *** when they get too warm.
For brake pads if your doing real track time I have only heard good things about portfeilds and Hawks. Everything else I have heard bad things and I have seen project mu pads rip off the backing plate.
I have used some carbo-mets from Dave turner motor sports, but I had problems with boiling the fluid (Motul 600), and I don't blame that on the pads (I need to ventilate with some brake ducting). That was on stock rotors, calipers, and Slipstreams with Ra1's. So the entire day on track I was super easy on the brakes.
