What are some signs of bent valves?
I recently missed a shift in my ITR and hit 2nd gear at 85 mph. It felt like I hit a wall, and I was amazed that my engine didn't blow apart. My car has over 73K HARD miles on it, and it's been supercharged for the last 25K. It seems to be running fine, but I am scared that I may have done some damage. What are the warning signs if I have bent some valves? I've been listening extra close to my engine ever since this happened. The only thing that I have noticed is maybe a little more rumble in the sound of the exhaust. But I could be just imagining this because I am listening TOO hard for something different. Also, I've been driving with my windows up for months so that could explain why it sounds louder.
It is not burning oil or water. Is there anything else I should look for as signs of damage? It seems to run the same, but I am afraid to really push it until I'm sure there is nothing wrong.

you would hear a loud put put put noise or a loud ticking noise coming from the head. the motor will vibrate and shake badly when idleing, you will lose some acceloration. you would now if it was bent there would be no question about it. just take it to the local dealer and do a valve adjusment.
it's not burning oil, it must not be a real ITR then..................
you should be fine, if it hasn't broke down by now........it probably wont......who knows

That's what I was thinking; that is why I was concerned with the exhaust sound. But there is no pinging or clacking from the engine, so I think I am probably okay.
Thanks for the replies.

I did almost the exact same thing in my gsr..
I had just ran the 1/4 mi, mis-shifted after the race was over..
it felt like a brick wall, I don't ever want to feel that again.
So far no problems though.. and that was months ago.
