need some advice.
i was thinking about going 2.0, toda b's blah blah blah...but then came to realize that i could have all the power in the world, but if i dont know how to drive on a track, then what good is it. I dont street race, and drag racing just isnt fun IMO (atleast not with a FF car). So instead of spending all kinds of money on these upgrades, i figured id go to a driving school and learn how to drive. Ill prolly go to the Mid Ohio school because one of the instructors is my wifes step father. He used to race in CART, and he will be willing to spend a little more time teaching me the basics. so thats settled, but the question is, should i upgrade the suspension. or should i leave it stock untill i learn how to use it fully, then upgrade. im definatley going to get some lightweight rims and tires, prolly rota and some bfg's. Oh yeah, what brake pads do you suggest for roadracing and autoX? Im a total newb when it comes to being on the track, or even autoX, so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Defiantly keep the suspn stock. Give Andie @ http://www.cobaltfriction.com/ a call and talk to him about brakes.
for wanting to spend $$ on driving schools instead of mods!

Stock suspension is fine. Can it be better? Sure. Do you want to wait till your driving skill is limited by the stock suspension? It's your time and money.
I'm very satsified with Cobalt GT spec VRs for fronts and stock in the rear but I'll probably upgrade the rears before my next track event (possibly GT Sports - also from Cobalt).

I think he should get some Toda B's and a Godspeed ECU.

Stock suspension is fine for driver's school and learning your/the car's limits.
I'm very happy with Cobalt GT-R.v-spec VR fronts and Axxis Ultimate rear pads, and some ATE superblue.

The basic list of mods for track/autoX are:
1. Better brake fluid
2. Better pads
3. Helmet
4. Gloves
5. Good tires (if yours is worn down)
As for the suspension upgrade. I personally am scared to find out how good the stock suspension would've been. I have Mugen Lowdowns and used it at my first track event and it was awesome.
For autoX, it's more apparent how good suspension can get you faster times.

p.s. Stock power is just enough at the track. Not too slow. not too fast.
